Pre force exhaust

Sill working on my -65 5000. Couple of questions:
I understand correct oval (trough the hood) muffler should have flat ends. From where I can get one? Ie. who makes the best repops?
Some parts list show two-piece exhaust. When and what models used it?

Thanks, Wagtail

Yes, they were a flat topped, oval silencer and had a two piece lower pipe with a exhaust clamp on. The flare on the lower part of the exhaust would not come through the hole in the bonnet.

If you zoom in on the exhaust on this 2000 you can see the vertical splits in the area where the clamp should fit. As with all ideas that had not been thought through, the lower pipe would seize in the manifold and the upper pipe would seize on the stack pipe leaving you with no choice other than destroy the parts to get them apart or, as I have done many times back in the day, remove the manifold and lift the whole lot off with the bonnet.

This setup was used on all pre Ford Force tractors 1964 to June 1968
