I have had more experience with the 3000 than the 2000 (zero), but as far as transmissions / PTO's go, it looks like there were a number of variations:

The 3000 that our neighbor had was an 8-speed with live PTO. To me that would be the most desirable combination.

That whole range of tractors after 1968 were bulletproof with few faults. The 2000 over here in England was mainly sold with a six speed box, live pto to emphasise the difference between it and the 3000. Select-O-Speed was not an option offered but things like dif.lock were standard.

The only weakness as far as I am concerned was the engine mounted piston hydraulic pump which can get air in and need bleeding, they were not brilliant in cold weather compared to the rear axle mounted pump in the 4000 upwards and the old Dexta and Super Dexta.

Thanks for letting me join
I own a 1973 Ford Force 2000 .I believe that most Basildon built Ford 2000 after the safety cab came in in September 1970 were 8 speeds the one that I own is of an 8 speed variant. As to faults the main fault for safety is these can leak oil into the rear brakes when the axle seal gets weak
