Re: J17 crawler
Hi,
Could you post some more photos please as I dont think I have seen many if any of these before, they are much rarer than the County crawlers

Thanks for the pictures
here are some more pictures of my crawler when me and my brother have started taking it to pieces
it is converted from a 1956 tractor and i have found that the left hand rear wheel studs are left hand thread, i am sure this is not standard for the tractor

here are the steering brake bands i sent off to be re lined
Re: J17 crawler
I had Not seen a J17 for many years! That one is really early because they changed to multi-plate clutches in the mid 1950's before County.
Be very careful with the tracks, they are like a massive spring when you split them as you may have found out. They are very hard to get back together without the compression tool, Do not stand directly behind or in front of them.

Re: J17 crawler
Cracks were a very common occurance especially if a transmission hand brake was fitted. Using the brake to stop or driving around with it just on were the usual cause. New or s/h housing could be the order of the day.
