Could you post some more photos please as I dont think I have seen many if any of these before, they are much rarer than the County crawlers

it is converted from a 1956 tractor and i have found that the left hand rear wheel studs are left hand thread, i am sure this is not standard for the tractor

Hi cheers for the replies
I have some more pictures sorry i havent managed to keep them all in order

here is a home made spanner used to remove some large nuts whick hold the clutch drums

hi cheers about the spanner it still took a bit of persuasion

here is the crown wheel and pinion back in and all shimed up

I had Not seen a J17 for many years! That one is really early because they changed to multi-plate clutches in the mid 1950's before County.

Be very careful with the tracks, they are like a massive spring when you split them as you may have found out. :eyes: They are very hard to get back together without the compression tool, Do not stand directly behind or in front of them. :mrgreen:

Hi the tracks did go with a bit of a spring

here are the rear axle gears all back in place

the gearbox was all appart and inspected it all looked in good condition untill i noticed a crack in this caseing

Cracks were a very common occurance especially if a transmission hand brake was fitted. Using the brake to stop or driving around with it just on were the usual cause. New or s/h housing could be the order of the day. :cry:

i drilled the weld off from the inside and pressed in some new bar and re welded it

the holes in the swinging drawbar were badly worn so i drilled them out and turned inserts and welded them in
