6 Cyl Thames trader camshaft bearings needed urgently

Post by 1962 model »

Hello all,
I am having to rebuild my 6cyl engine and everything is done except for the camshaft bearings which are not a lot of use, the part numbers are; Front cam bearing E1ADKN 6261 -A one only, Remaining bearings E1ADKN 6262 -A 6 required.

I hope someone can help me or I am completely stuck with my conversion.

Mike

hello mike
give me please two days,i have the same problem on my super 6 (sm-based).
after research in the www,i found a company from your continent, and they can
help you with your cam bush/bearing problem.but unfortunly here in germany the
needed parts are not avaible.cnh also can not help/delivery the bushes/bearings,because they don´t have them in stock/service( means:no longer serviced!!!! )
as i say,i need max. two days to sort out the partnumber etc,but you can be sure you get
an answer from me.
(for my engine rebuilt i have all the parts, only the cam bushes are not on my bench)

Thank you very much, I have made enquiries to get these bearings.

It seems to be the front bearing that fails more, probably due to vibration from the front gears, I pulled down three 590E engines and every one had erosion problems in the front bearing, this could be from the gears or or possibly from running diesel in the sump, lots of people did this by their inatention to detail when fitting the fuel bleed line which is criticle to get right.

The engine I had intended to use which was two days from my original Super Major block date was a write off for several reasons one of which was from diesel in the sump destroying the crankshaft.
After examining several options I am back to the original Class header engine, which has a standard size crank and half decent "O" ring groves.
I have just had the main bearing bores closed and re machined too as these always end up too large and give excessive bearing clearances. I suspect that this engine had a new crank fitted due to a previous issue with Diesel in the sump, ( some people never learn ), Now I just wish that they would make a 6 cyl bleed off line, or i may have to make one myself, if I can get the componets.
Agriline has started to stock the 6cyl gaskets because of my request, perhaps in time restorers will realise how criticle it is to get the bleed off lines to seal perfectly and create a demand for this item too.

These cam bearings originally discussed will also be of benifit to conventional 4cyl tractor owners to restore and retro fit, as there is little point buying one of those new camshafts then fitting them into rusty or worn cast Iron bores.

Don't worry about your English, it came out fine this end,

If I can get these bearings I will try to help ypu too, sorry about the delay, I forgot to tick the box to notify me of a reply.

Thanks, Mike

Thank you for all those specifications, my camshaft is 3.060 as indicated as the maximum camshaft size, so all is great there, I have ordered some standard bearings for mine, though .010 undersize ones are also available for worn cams.

The bearing set for the 6cyl is ACL number 7C5757
