Hello Fordson friends!
At the moment I'm doing a complete overhaul on a new performance Super Dexta. I just had the Liners changed by a machine shop, they also fixed the head and changed some valves. New pistons arrived etc., so now I'm ready to put the engine back together. This is were my question comes in. The machineshop told me the following about the differend torques. (Hope I have this word right, aanhaalspanning in Dutch).

Main bearings (hoofdlagers): 160 N/M
Connecting rod bearings (drijfstanglagers: 100 N/M
Head: 85 N/M
Flywheel: 104 N/M

Someone else (with experience on Dexta's!) told me that the connecting rod bearings and te head should be 75 N/M, so now I'm confused!

The original Dexta workshop manual (thanks fordson-dexta.de!) says the following:

The head should be 55/60 lb.ft
flywheel should be 75 lb.ft
main bearings should be 90/95 lb.ft
I couldn't find the connecting rod bearings.

Of all the sources the workshopmanual is the one I trust the most, but lb.ft is an unknown indication for me..
So for once and for all, what are the right torques in kps, or in N/M. Brian, Oscar, Ger-Man or Someone else, pleace fill me in. Help would be verry much apriciated.
Thanks for now and Greetings from whet IJhorst, Joris van der Linde

Your torque wrench should have both scales. Always trust the Factory service manual.

Dr. Dexta,

The SI value you have for your mains is a little high. The enlish value you listed matches my I&T Manual.

The head should be 55-60 ft-lb = 75-81 N-m

flywheel should be 75 ft-lb = 102 N-m

main bearings should be 90-95 ft-lb = 122-128 N-M

connecting rod bearings are 50-55 ft-lbs (68-75 N-m) if nuts are cadmium plated(shiny) or 65-70 ft-lbs (88-95 N-m) if nuts are unplated.

1 ft-lb*(1Kg/2.2lb)*(9.81m/s^2)*(1m/3.281ft)= 1.356 N-m
