Particularities:
Once started as a study model and developed by South Essex Motors. A
company that did a lot of development and assembly work for Ford.
The aim of this study model was to develop a simple tractor with a six
cylinder engine of around 100 HP. Three models were built, namely a
two-wheel drive model without cabin, a four-wheel drive model with LP
cab, and a four-wheel drive model without cab. Initially the bosses
of the Ford development department did not like the project at all,
but as the process progressed they began to see the possibilities as
there was also a growing demand for such a model from the market as
many customers in the 100 hp class preferred gave to a six cylinder
engine instead of a four cylinder Turbo. After Ford engineers mounted
the Supercab ll on the tractor, senior bosses began to see the model's
capabilities, and the tractor was put into production. It was introduced
to the world market at the 1988 Agricultural Rai.
What once started as a study model eventually became one of Ford's best-selling
and most popular models ever.
