Re: 2 Pac paint either chipping or peeling

Both chipping and peeling can be from the wrong Primer being allpied undernieth. The clean metal must be primed with the correct primer for the topcoat to stick for the long run. Good advise above in talking with the paint supplier.

Primer is so very important....

Re: Dexta has a new job.

I had a JD backhoe loader for 10 years when we lived up in Michigan. It was very helpful, the oddest thing I did with it was to bury a neighbors horse for them. You would not believe how big a hole that takes. And it was day 3 before I got the call. Phew....That hoe looks just right. I think however...

Re: Ol'Blue up for sale

I felt it was a good sale. It shows pretty well, and here in the states older gas tractors struggle with today's crappy fuel, which makes the older diesels a way better fit. I might have another one some day, they sure are a comfortable tractor to operate. I deliver it to Washington PA on Saturday. ...

Re: Ol'Blue up for sale

Fall/winter is coming on, and I really want to park my car inside this year. I wont leave the Dexta out, at 50 she has earned the right to a roof over her head. I have had some good interest on e-bay for the sale. I am hoping whomever buys her takes good care of her....It has been a good reliable tr...

Ol'Blue up for sale

I have enjoyed owning and working this tractor more than most. Its up in good shape, and ready to be put to work or play. I and the Wife have come to the conclusion that one man can only own so many tractors.... So having to thin the herd a little.... Sigh   .......I have enjoyed and will...

I also had very stiff steering, and I did all the above, as well as replace the worn out bushings in my spindles. Bushings are cheep. I use a ribbed tire with lots of air...

But I still long for power steering sigh.......

Re: Different between 5,50x16 and 6,00x16 tires

Thats the same question I have been pondering.... In my case I have the 6.00 tires up front now but are pretty worn out. The 5.50 tires seem to be quite a bit cheeper over here and can save about 50 bucks total if I go with that size. They seem to be narrower in width I would love to see someone pos...

Re: grinding noise from starter

Its simple enough to just remove the starter and have a look at the nose bushing for wear. Also have a look at the ring gear while your at it. My guess is a damaged starter gear or bushing.....

Re: Injector pump seals causing fuel contaminated oil?

My 63 Super also gets diluted oil in the bottom of the injector pump. I am not in any hurry to overhaul the pump, so I just concentrate the oil once in a while with synthetic 90 wt. I figure it about evens out to 30wt when its all said and done. I know its not the prefered way to run, but I only put...

Re: dual to single batteries

My 63 Super also had dual batteries because it came from Upstate NY. They were 12 volt batteries hooked up in parallel. Of course at this stage in the game these old tractors are anything but original in most cases.... I do believe though that the electrical system on any of the Supers would be 12 v...

Its a shame your not any closer to Ohio.... I know where there are several of those being dismantled. You could have lift arms, manifold, and such for not a lot of money.... but shipping would be outrageous...... Nice old tractor with good family history.....

Gravel drive, and ol'Blue

We finally had a nice day Saturday, and I took some time to level out the driveway. ol'Blue lives a pampered life in the garage, but comes out to play when the snow comes or when the grass needs attention. This time she helped smooth the driveway.... What a great old tractor these Dextas are....They...

My original Owners manual for my 64 super dexta covers both models "dexta" and "new super dexta" so maybe they were offered both.... It had the sticker on the hood and no lettering.
