timing gears and camshaft update
Hi all, I want to replace the camshaft on in my '59 Major which is going in my '64 Super. Both engines had cams with 3 bolt gears and the fork style retainer. What do I need and/or need to do to use a new cam with a single bolt? I haven't seen any timing gears listed on anyone's website. I also need...

Re: Need pushrods for '59 major
I am in South Central Pennsylvania, USA. I seem to remember reading somewhere that they were the same as the Ford 302 V-8...Can anyone confirm this? Interesting :scratchhead: ...I happen to have a Ford 302 that came out of a '83 Mustang GT. I'll go pull a valve cover and take a look. I'll let you kn...

Re: Need pushrods for '59 major
Already looked there. I believe they have for the Dexta but no the major. I'm going to call my local NH dealer and see if they have and how much. They are nut on some of there pricing.
I also need the crank timing gear. Mine is really pitted and I'm afraid to use it.

Need pushrods for '59 major
Anyone have or know where I can buy a complete set of pushrods for a '59 Major? I tore apart the original '64 engine several years ago and have no clue as to what I did with pushrods. I know at least one or two were bent when the #3 con rod went. I am have thrown them out for all I know. I have 7 of...

Re: FMD oil quantities
Can someone post or send me a picture of the ball at the end of the lever. Gman has a nice shot of the bottom but a side view will help me get a idea how long the ball should be. My lever wiggles and turns also and the pin looks like it has been welded in place a couples of times. I haven't really s...

Re: Transmission gear housing problem
Thanks Dave. It is the upper and lower gear housing and I was thinking the same thing. with the thickness of the casting, and how it sits in the transmission housing, it would be fine. I just want to make sure as I will be using the tractor on almost daily and don't want to have to repair anymore ma...

Transmission gear housing problem
I cleaned my transmission gear housing the other day and went to put it together today when I noticed a crack between the bearing holes on the backside of the housing. See pictures. Is this a problem? Can I ignore it or should I try to locate a new housing? The tractor does have a loader and backhoe...

Re: FMD oil quantities
Where can I find the thread on fixing the gear lever ball? I remember seeing it on the old forum awhile back but I have searched and browsed the old forum and can't find it. I'm restoring my Super Major and this repair is very high on the todo list as it was always popping out at the worst times. I ...
