Boughton Winch 205
Hallo,
over here in Germany we hardly find a Boughton winch.
Now I was offerd a Modell 205.
Does anyone know, what time they were build?
It is a two Speed Version, what would be the pulling potential?
Kind regards
Matthias

Re: Can You Still Get The GMC Axle They Used On Roadless Tra
Hallo,
your problem is not the axle, your problem will be the gearbox .
A reconditioned unit should have both.
What would be a good Price for a Roadless Major?
Two or three times a year I seee an offer here in Germany and the surounding countries.

The larger rear bearing is pretty expensiv, I think it was round about 150€ , but I am not sure.
Look for a replacement rea rend. In Belgium it should be no Problem to find them.

Hallo Matthias,
you are right, it looks like some rollers are missing in the bearing. I have the same with one of my Majors sitting in the barn for almost two years.

Was it common in the early days to be driving a tractor in a standing position?
I have seen it in the US, a guy was driving in a hayfield with a windrower. The seats were not very much plasure driving all day at higer speeds

Re: Dexta Roadless parts
A tractordealer in the neighbourhood is offering a Dexta Major 4x4 at the moment.
I have never seen one in real, so I went there this morning.
Price would be 8.000 € .
I have to many unfinished projekts, otherwise I might be interesteed in buying it.

Yes I also think that the chain version won't be very strong. .. Hallo, If you are afraid, a single chain won´t be strong enough, look for "duplex chain" or even "triplex chain" https://www.google.de/search?q=duplex+chain&biw=1097&bih=563&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwi_n-rHrt7MAhVhLZoKHWpHC...

I think this tractor has never been a 4X4.
A transfer gearbox will be more expensive than the whole tractor itself

Over here in Germany this http://i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y383/county654/IMAG0373_zps1q6libco.jpg used to be the common practice for passenger Transport. I ´don´t think it is a Roadless
Looks more like a County X000-4 to me.
Can you post some pictures of the lefthand gearbox and rearaxle?
County didn´t have a transferbox.

Re: 30" wheels
Hallo, the difference in total size is about 7 cm or 3 ". When you divide it by two the difference in hight of the rear tractor is 1.5" or 3,5 cm. I don´t think that will be visual. You can try the differenc by parking your tractor on a 1,5 " board. Here http://www.en.working-tyres.eu/ you can check...

Re: Advice on buying new battery
My Majors all start real easy, so I allways use old batteries I take out of my working tractors.
Even the 590 E 6 Zylinder has no problem starting with an older battery. Replacement batteries for the working fleet are allways the "Optima Red Top" like Jan mentioned.
