smokey engine breather pipe ....

my 58 dexta starts great ,she fires and runs sweet and uses little to no oil...she has good power,she reg pulls large link boxes full of wood out of a hilly/wet bog..so im just wondering why theres smoke coming out of the engine breather pipe ..any ideas chaps ?? :P is the engine needing a rebuild ?...

Ive been having a rumage around a few more old sheds and thought id pull this international harvester/reaper out and hook it up to the dexta,its in great nick and runs well,its a pretty dangerous piece of machinery it would soon nip a few fingers off if one wasnt carefull !! http://i1358.photobucket...

well its been a good few months now since the old girl was rescued from rot and ruin and im pleased to say shes going strong,ive managed to sort the cold starting out on her,give her a engine and gear box oil change (axle oil change coming soon)fixed a few leaky fuel pipes,serviced the air filter/oi...

thanks lads ...ive set a date in my diary to change it next week end...so il have to make sure ive enough old containers to drain the oil into,dont want a bp like incident on the shed floor !! :cry:

Mmmmmmm oven cleaner ?? I suppose it makes sense ,if it can shift baked on lasagne I'm sure it could shift a few mm of oil ! Lol that'll be my Saturday job for next week,I think the wife is working so it's a "me" day lol :lol:

10/4 wee59dexta ! Theirs usually one around July in Ballymena show grounds , not sure of the exact date... On the subject of power washing her , I was a bit unsure of power washing the engine incase I may do damage to her, what do you guys suggest ? Maybe buy a big tin of gunk or something simalar ?...

I used this http://www.wynnoil.co.uk/products-wynns-oil-engine-flush.htm I'd like to add that it really did shift some gunk,because even the first oil change I done on her the other week didn't produce this amount of gunk , I warmed the engine well up for around an hour then I poured this in to her ...

Thanks lads for your advice ,but it has come to late , sighhhhh I couldn't help my self and used it today,it produced porridge like gunk when draining the oil out , and as for the gauze in below the sump,that took some cleaning with a small stiff brush in a bucket of petrol... so far everything is o...

Is the nut that holds the pipe in place tight ? (But not to tight,you may run the threads!) Maybe you have put it on the wrong threads and now the copper pipe isn't seated right ..double check everything for piece of mind !
