Could you please translate your heading into Australian? 1922 Fordson F and Texas I understand, it's the bits in-between that have me puzzled.

Re: Fordson CLM Diesel

An interesting looking conversion. Possibly a model 285 of 32hp @ 1000rpm. Ours, shown below, is a 1939 LC2, 35hp @ 1200rpm. The CLM importer told me that he brought in 2 conversion kits to Australia before the war put an end to imports. The other one was smaller than ours and has probably gone to s...

Re: Help: Fordson N rear wheels locked up

Possibly a lot of you blokes on the forum are new to Fordsons, so believe some of the stories you have heard. I don't mind being a myth buster, so here is another one. The Fordson is propelled forwards by (apart from a gear train) by a worm meshing with a worm wheel. You can jerk the clutch, pull st...

Re: What was mounted on the wheels?

The Fordson was a legend in it's own lifetime. There were also myths and legends attributed to it. One such myth was the one above. The overall gear ratio was quite normal, not unusually low geared. The worm had nothing to do with rearing or not. If pulling an implement or a stump, it is important t...

Re: Australian Temp. Gauge

To see an Australian temp. gauge, look here http://www.fordsontractorpages.nl/phpbb ... f=1&t=3335

You will notice that it looks more modern than its Pommy counterpart.

Re: The Outsider

To Brian and others who may be interested. We are fortunate to have some Ford tractors unique to Australia. Not only the 8401 as already mentioned, but the articulated FW series. Unlike the 8401, the FW’s were not built by Ford, but under contract by James Nagorcka of Waltanna Tractors, Hamilton, Vi...

Re: Slow sites loading this forum

Living in a relatively civilised country, Australia, and not many km's from the telephone exchange, this and all other forums work perfectly. Slow downloads, therefore, are not due to the forum. As to the look of the current forum, all I would change is to eliminate the phpBB text in the banner and ...

E27N fuel taps

I am looking for information on reproduction fuel taps of the needle valve type. Is there more than one manufacturer? Do they vary in quality?
I have seen prices of £70 upwards, so would not like to buy something that does no work.

Firstly, thank you David for the photos. Yes, the Barreiros looks like a copy of the Perkins P6. I just did another internet search and found this: http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,875628,00.html which tells us that the engine was most definitely a copy. Frank, the strange P6 you men...

Stevo, the song you refer to was "The orange and the green". You can Google the lyrics. Michael, I can't say that there never was an orange Cork Fordson if your father had one. What I would suggest is that he had the only one ever painted that colour. I have grown up with Fordsons of that era (I am ...

Frank, the Cork built tractors were definitely grey. The orange tractors came after the blue ones, guaranteed. The wheel colours on E27N's was selected by the state distributors. In Victoria the wheels were yellow for the first year or two, then red, the most common colour. I think it was only in th...

By now i thought someone would have pointed out an error or two. So far so good! Brian, this information is free of copyright, so you may use it as you see fit. Fordson ID

There have been one or two people recently who are not sure how to identify the different model Fordsons. There can be problems, as most parts are interchangeable, so there are a lot of hybrids around. This is how I pick the differences, assuming they are in original condition. F - Made in the US of...

Getting new batties for your P6 would be impossible. There were no other products that used these odd-sized batteries. As Barry M said, Marshall did make them - emphasis on “did”. As there are only a few eccentrics like use using these funny old tractors, no one is going to produce batteries for the...

That someone else fitted electric start to an N model is possible. I do not believe that there ever was a factory fitted starter. Another trick that I have used to replace a broken valve spring without removing the head or manifold - this was on a petrol engine - was to put compressed air in the combustion chamber. An old spark plug body with an airline fitting attached did the job. The compressed air holds the valve against i...

Sorry Eric there was no such tractor. How can you say that, I showed you the picture! Just kidding. I have read that Ford in the UK were totally opposed to fitting the larger engine, so I doubt if Ford Australia did such a conversion. I just thought it was an interesting topic of conversation. Eric
