Re: Gearbox noises

With regards to the bush i would suggest the clearance is ok but it will need the oil way to enable the bush to run on oil. Without it it will run hard against one side.

Re: e27n six speed transmission

Hi guys, as luck would have it (or not  ) I have acquired one of these tractors. Its an e27n P6 and has this exact gearbox. I bought it as a none runner and im in the middle of overhauling the engine. The issue I have is, I have come to renew any seals in the gearbox before refitting the engin...

it will be far easier to change the whole gearbox. it may be cheaper and easier than buying parts.
I would imagine just a difference of gears and shafts.

Re: Fordson major Thames trader 6d

yes it will fit straight in. same flywheel and bell housing. Dependant on your sump the rear sump holes wont fit but doesn't matter. Longer chassis rails and longer bonnet. Also the front wish bone will have to be attached to the chassis rails as the sump wont have the mounting hole.

Re: hydraulic piston lip seal

sound like you had it the right way. if you put it in the other way it will not work and the oil will pass straight past the seal. Just use a small blunt tool ie welding rod and push the lip in to the cylinder gently working you way around the bore. If its the right seal it will go easily if you hav...

Re: Front Seal help

It wont work. I had the same problem. The only way is take the whole lot to bits, take the timing gears off, plate off, make sure the whole lot is flat and immaculate, gasket seal, new gasket, gasket seal on top and plate back on. As for the crank pulley, if its leaking from behind the pulley, have ...

Re: Perkins P6 pistons

Im pretty sure its a ag motor as the oil filler is over the flywheel. I have come across an article that states all late p6 engines had alloy pistons as they realised the cast iron ones were no good so it may just be a late motor. I have stripped her out fully now and looks like it hasnt been apart ...

Perkins P6 pistons

Does anyone know what the crack is with P6 pistons.

As far as I was aware, wagon engines had aluminium pistons and farm engines had cast iron pistons.

I have started my new project today and have found aluminium and was expecting cast.
