Super major hydraulics
I have a new major with the stacked additional auxiliary lever and thus independent front and rear hydraulic connections. Good for loader together with tipping trailer. How should i do this on a super major? The original lever i would like connected to the three point and the auxiliary outlet. And t...

If i find and mount some spool valve for the super major will thisoutlet be independent of the position of the main lever and of the draft/position control lever? Ie will the main lever control the the point arms and the outlet(s) in front of the saddle control external connections? My 58 major has ...

Ok thank you. The overheating, is it noticeable on the temp gauge or just locally at the rear of the engine (where the water might not circulate)?

Re: Shrouded thermostat
For what i know i have no problems with heating. I got curious as it is stated as needed in the motor supplemen p33 point 62: previous type of termostat must not be fitted to mk2,3 engines. I think Brian wrote something similar in a post. I guess that the shroud stops water bypass the engine and tha...

Re: Front axel Pin Repair
Use the lower not worn half as aim and weld the worn upper half. Then grind or mill to correct dimension. But note, the hole is not straight angle, water level, but aims to the hole in the sump. Caster or camber angle I think it is from water level.

Shrouded thermostat
Somewhere here and in the workshop manual i read about the importance of shrouded thermostats. Are these anywhere to buy? Or are the normal one you buy good enough? As I understand the shroud blocks the bypass direct into the head and the water have to pass through the cooler when the engine is hot.

That is a funny thing, good luck.
Notice there is no wear on the clutch pedal.
But if i remember right the holes to the bolts holding the gear switch goes down to the rear axle. If you do not cover them it will rain in there.

I do not know about the diff but for the pto holes there were a welded plate bolted. This plate can be found on old backloaders. Better than welding i guess.

Re: Hydraulic response
I think the question is if it is possible to make the levers more sensible/sensitive. (Unsure of the right word) I have the same experience: someone is guiding me to lift the load and I slowly raise the lever, almost all the way up, and then it starts to move, often too abrupt, in the meantime the g...

Maybe late but soft soap, i think it is called that in english, is good loosening up hardened linen oil. But it is strong and will remove paint and i do not know about rubber. If in warm water it solves quicker.

A fellow, do yo say so?, at the Swedish forum did just an interesting observation. The water holes in the new headgasket are smaller than the original. He had been noticing that some newly renovated motors run hot. This could be an explanation. He filed them to original diameter. Pictures can be see...

Re: Considering buying a 58 Major with a frozen diesel engin
Regarding oil in the cambox it was the one who renovated my other pump that suggested it to be good to fill up a bit below center of the axis and adjust the drainage accordingly. The motivation is as the new diesel does not smear enough. The camshaft bearings are always bad on these pumps he said, a...
