Dexta FoMoCo PTO Compressor
Hi, I bought a pto compressor for my Dexta yesterday, Just wondered if anyone had seen one before? It needs an air line for it and I'd like to know what it had on it originaly. Was it just used for tyres or did it run a clipper like the fergie ones? http://i1116.photobucket.com/albums/k563/ghc7810/P...

New Oil Pump Problem
Hi all. I need some help with my new Dexta oil pump. The replacement pumps are a slightly different design to the one I pulled off mine. The 2 elbows are now part of the pump body but are a female fitting. So how do I get the pipes to fit? I was planning to take the 2 female fittings off the pipes a...

Re: Shell Bearings
Cheers for the reply. The crank looks good but I think I'll take your advice and get it checked anyway. The con and main shells in it dont have STD or OS stamped on them though. theres the letters pv in a circle and 2777 next to them. the other side has 0050234 on it. Reckon these are the originals?

Shell Bearings
Hi
Just got the engine in bits on my Dexta as it needs re-lining. The crank is good but I am going to put new shells in it whilst it is apart. How do I tell if the shells are standard or O/S? Is it obvious?!
Cheers.

Re: Dexta without hydraulics
In T&M it mentions a Dexta for use on grass cutting or parks which came in blue on grassland tyres with or without pto or hydraulics but had a tow hitch instead. Launched in 1959. In fact I think there was one on Ebay last year....

Looks like your resto is rolling well.

Cheers. Its a Massey Ferguson 732. Yeah it works very well, not as good as a disc mower but its very handy for knocking down thistles etc. Got to keep it sharp though.

Re: My Rolling Restoration
Thanks John. Yes its on its 3rd set of rubbers since I got it. The first were 26" and 1 tyre was shot so I got a set of 28" on rims which were on their way out but lasted long enough. The latest are 12.4 28 grass tyres on some other rims. More useful for topping paddocks in this weather. I found the...

My Rolling Restoration
Hi, I just thought I'd post a thank you to everyone on here that has helped me out with my Dexta over the past 18 months. This forum is so useful! In Jan 2011 I was looking for another tractor after I had finished the fergie off. Whilst in conversation with a farmer on a shoot one day he mentioned h...

Re: Oil Pressure
Yeah the wiring is fine as i replaced it all. I'm pretty sure the sensor has had it as the light has only ever gone off once. I just wanted to check the pressure with my guage whilst i had it out to see what it ran at. Does anyone know where i can get an original style pressure sensor? Not the ones ...

Oil Pressure
Hi all,
At what pressure should the oil warning light go on/off? I think the sensor on mines had it so just want to check with a guage. Hope its not the mains! Also what pressures can I expect warm? 40psi tick over? 60 full revs?
Cheers.

Re: Adjusting 3pt lift hight
Hi Tom.
Have you shortend the top link? Other than that, Is it possible to pull the upper lift arms off the splined shaft and move them on a couple of notches? I've never tried it but cant see why it wouldnt work. I suppose what you gain at the top you would loose at the bottom though.

Re: Dexta died and will not start :(
Hi George,
Just another idea.... After the engine has run and cut out is there air in the fuel if you try to bleed it again? Mine had similar symptoms and it turned out to be the lift pump diaphagm which had ripped.
Good luck anyway!

Re: Wheres the most random place you saw a dexta?
Went to an evening air show at Old Warden on Saturday. They've got a nice Super Dexta they use to pull the planes about. Its been adapted a bit and has no hydraulics, underslung exhaust and a nice bench seat. It looked good pulling the tiger moths, hurricane, etc... Didnt take me camera with me but ...

Re: Dexta Engine/Fuel help!
Hi, just a quick update on my Dexta and to say a massive thanks for all the advise I've had. As soon as my student grant came in I bought a new govener diaphram and fitted it and she goes like a rocket up hill and down dale so very happy with that and I never would have suspected it. I haven't chang...

Re: Dexta Engine/Fuel help!
Yeah good point John, It was tricky enough to drive when the revs were going up and down. I wouldn't fancy being on it when it gave up! The heater plug from my standard diesel fergie fits too so for the time being I was going to install it as well as the thermostart, until i sort an atomiser out. An...

Re: Dexta Engine/Fuel help!
Ah yes you're right Russel. I've just been reading an old post and its all become clear. The original attomiser inlet has been retapped to take the thermostart and the heater plug hole has what looks like a sump plug in it. Is the original heater plug the same as the one in a diesel fergie? I'd like...

Re: Dexta Engine/Fuel help!
She's running! I went through the fuel system, from tank to injection pump, checking all joints. I put a new diaphram in the lift pump as it looked a bit suspect and i had it apart to sort the manual lift lever out. Then i took the cover of the govener diaphram which revealed a rusty mess. I was goi...
