Hi All I have a 1957 Live Drive Major whos engine is very tiered. I have the chance of a very good 1955 non live drive engine. Can I swap the engines? is it just a matter of changing the flywheel and clutch over from my original major or are there other matters I need to consider. I read somthing on...

I have a E1A Major 1957 Live drive and the engine has gone. I have the offer of a FORDSON POWER MAJOR ENGINE SERIES 2 ENGINE (I believe) this is NON live drive. If I swap the engines do I have to swap the flywheel and clutch off my old unit..? i.e is the gearbox different for the live drive clutch/f...

Front plate thread size.
Hello all. Can someone tell me the thread size of the four holes at the front of a 1957 major. The holes that straddle the hand start handle aperture. Thank you in anticipation of an answer cheers Martin Suffolk.

Hi there.
Could somone tell me what month my Tractor was manufactured in I think its a 1957 mdel. I beleive i need this info as I need an overhaul kit for the engine so need to know what kit to purchase. The tractor serial no on the V5 is 1436648.

My engine number is 1436648, can some one tell me which engine this is and when it was made? If I had to buy the rebuild kit off of agriline which one woulld it be? also which size oil filter would fit the engine 114mm or 144 mm? Thank you for help.

Cheers roadlees I will try another pressure guage. I could do a rebuild but have just moved into a house with a bit of land thats why i bought the fordson to keep the meadows down so really will not have the time in the near future to refurbish the engine :-(. Will carry on with it but dont want to ...

Hi Roadless, thanks for reply Started engines cold today after working it on Saturday. Has a pressure gauge indicating around 20 psi. When finished working on Saturday gauge appeared to read 0 psi. Engine starts and runs well with good power, seems fine. Only had the tractor a few weeks and don't wa...

I would have thought it would be hard to start the engine if it was worn like most diesels, is this not the case?

Hi Used my Fordson Major for the first time in anger yesterday. 2 hours of reasonably hard flailing. I notice the oil pressure was indicating very low after warming up. Is this normal.
