Re: More on Stabiliser bars

Ben, long adjustable stabilizer bars are common and easy to get here in the states..... couple of examples : http://www.tractorsupply.com/en/store/countylinereg%3B-adjustable-stabilizer-arm http://www.ebay.com/itm/Ford-Tractor-Adjustable-Stabilizer-Bar-ABC2010-/221358845603?pt=BI_Heavy_Equipment_Par...

Looks like 1968 Aug 29th....

8 = 1968 , H = Aug , 29 = day of month ...

Here's a link that explains these pretty well ..

Re: Help required getting Hydraulics’ working

The workshop manual has a pretty good bit on troubleshooting the hydraulic lift....... Start with the simple: Is the selector knob on the auxilary service plate pushed all the way in? If it's pulled out, no flow to the lift. Pull the small plug out of the side of the pump, bump the starter (stop cab...

Drain for the block is just below the fuel filter.
S/b a drain on the radiator also. Look below the lower radiator hose.

Agriline shows a "Fuel Tap/Jet for Manifold" on their website for a Dexta.. wasn't clear to me from the pic if it just a shutoff, or a shutoff and nozzle....you could email them or give a ring and ask. I think, but am not sure, it's the version that was installed on the tractors originally sold in B...

Glad you got it working again...you never know what you'll find when you start poking around in old machinery eh. Re: Hit a stump. STEERING problems

Does this steering column move up and down or does it twist. If it moves up and down by way of the fast threads, then I may see my problem. If it twist, then...... It must move up..... gotta go look at my drawings. OK, read the manual about the steering. It does move up and down by way of worm gear...

Good to see another South Carolinian on here.. hope you get on well with the Dexta... There is a ford 3000 at my dad's place..gas engine, 4 speed trans, standard pto..... most work I'd rather do with my Dexta.. live pto makes the mowing much easier, the diesel pulls much better even though it's rate...

The end with the big spring and 'bulb' goes into the block..... They originally came with 160 degree thermostats (at least mine had one in the 70's when I got it).....these don't seem to be available anymore.....170 to 180 degree should be fine...what you don't want is the coolant boiling in the rad...

Re: Hit a stump. STEERING problems

gotta agree, sounds likely bearing is knackered ...possibly the 'top nut' also. The bearing assembly holds the steering 'top nut' and steering wheel in place.... this 'top nut' is not the one you see when assembled, but is the name in the parts book for the piece that threads over the steering shaft...

Re: Starts perfectly but then loses revs, but okay after 30

Sure has all the markings of a fuel problem of some sort......My advice is to work through the system till you find it....starting with the easier (and cheaper) things first...tank,cap and petcock, filters, 'lift' pump (electric on yours) , fuel lines .... Make sure it's not starving the injection p...

Re: Starts perfectly but then loses revs, but okay after 30

couple of things come to mind. 1) Did you check the strainer in the tank, attached to the petcock? if you're getting good flow at petcock it's probably ok. possibly a large bit of trash floating around in the tank? but it sounds more like.......... 2) wrong fuel cap can cause problems.....fuel cap n...

Doubt you will find a new shaft. Look into speedi-sleeve kit(s) for it.
I welded mine up and re-turned in a lathe, but I have free access to a small machine shop.....probably not a good choice if you're paying going rates.

The only procedure I've ever seen requires a test stand to set this.... A couple of other things come to mind though...... 1) pull the side cover off the pump and make sure the spring is pushing the control linkage up against the stop (engine off). 2) is the diaphram stiff ? try massaging a bit of p...

Mine squirts a thin stream of diesel, not a spray. If you give the 'pump' a good push, it is strong enough to hit the heater coil. Don't know if it managed a spray when it was new or not...I was too young a chap to play with the tractor then  There is small check ball and spring in the inlet s...

I've seen people bend them on purpose, to shorten them up when they run out of adjustment on the turnbuckles...or the turnbuckles seize.

Take a look at your fuel filler cap (on the fuel tank) also...It needs to be a vented type, and the vent needs to be open, not plugged with rust or dirt.. The oil filler caps will fit on the fuel tank, but aren't vented. They often get switched around, or fuel cap gets replaced with wrong type. Some...
