Hi
Not sure what you mean by inside.
I used a dial gauge, like shown in the link above.

Re: Check backlash between the crown wheel and pinion
Hi
I did a check on the NPSM.
D = 304 mm and 35 teeth, giving M = 8.69 and a backlash between 0.254 and 0.330
Fordson specifies 0.004 to 0.018 in equal to 0.1 to 0.5 mm
I have measured a backlash of 0.2 mm.

Re: Solenoid part numbers
Hi
I have uploaded some photos of a solenoid, see link https://postimg.cc/gallery/VJzrbfD
Would this be the one you are looking for?
It was installed on a 63 model
The rest of the tractor is quite original, I belive, so maybe the solenoid also is

Re: Disc brake house removal
Hi
I finally manged to separate the two pieces. I was not aware of the bull pinion also was flanged on the outside of the back-end gear housing.
It seems like the previous owner has glued the two pieces together.

Re: Disc brake house removal
Sandy Thanks for your response. 1) Do you think there is any chance for the bull pinion house and brake house to be one unit? Not two pieces as usual. I am not able to see the mating face at all. These two pieces must have a perfect fit. I used emery paper and steel wool to clean up, but still no vi...

Re: Disc brake house removal
The link below shows photos I have taken https://postimg.cc/gallery/h7fSxLt One photo is named damage, and shows a crack. It seems to me that the left part of the brake house is welded to the right part, and the crack is in the welding. Two photos are magnified, and shows were I had expected to see ...

Re: Disc brake house removal
Hi I finally managed to remove the brake house. I removed the bull gear, and then the brake house and bull pinion housing came out as one part, quite easily. What suprises me, it seems to be one part, the brake house and the bull pinion housing. Is that possible? I will try to upload a few photos. K...

Re: Disc brake house removal
Hi again I am struggling to remove the brake housing. It seems that the brake housing and the bull pinion housing are completely connected. I tried using a small chisel to press out the brake housing, then a crowbar, and finally a large lever. Unfortunately, the brake housing was damaged in the proc...

Re: Disc brake house removal
Thanks
I will give it a try.
I wanted to be on the safe side, not damaging anything.
Since everything was rotating easily, and the seal was old, I assumed it would slip easily.

Disc brake house removal
Hi I have a leakage in the right hand disc brake, and need to replace the seal in the brake housing. According to repair manual: 7. If necessary remove the brake housing taking care not to disturb the bull pinion housing and shims whilst carrying out this operation. I have the hydraulic cover off, a...

Re: Oil volume in rear axel
Thanks for the response. The same minute I had poured on the 40 litres, I checked the level. No running of engine. Starting the engine, and no difference (as expected). Raised and lowered the front lift, no change. Two weeks later, level was the same, and I took of 4 - 6 litres. The only reasonable ...

Oil volume in rear axel
Hi I changed oil in the rear axle a few days ago. It is a new performance super major. Operating manual specifies 41 liter. I added two cans of 20 liters, without measuring the level. When I measured the level it was way above the high mark. I removed like 4 - 6 liters. Anybody else have this experi...

Re: Measuring camshaft bearing
It was a hole or a scratch in the timing cover. I assume one of the broken teets was the cause. So it was not a leakage from the gasket. I assume the gear was not more damage d than it was able to do the job for some time, but eventually a major breakdown occur. I will see if I understand how to put...

Re: Measuring camshaft bearing
Hi Thanks for your response. I haven't removed the camshaft yet, but by turning the camshaft, I can see that the camshaft is not rotating when looking into the fuel pump opening. I believe it is broken just behind the front plate. None of the tappets are moving either. The serial number is 08D958055...

Measuring camshaft bearing
My camshaft and timing gear broke, and need to be replaced. I see that the maintenance supplement specifies: "The five journal camshaft is supported in unbushed bearing bores or renewable type bearing liners (bushings). Camshaft journal diameter is 2.0596-2.0600 (52,31384 - 52,3240 mm). Desired jou...

Re: Transporting a thermostat
I did some snow blowing on Saturday. Outside temp was -5°C (23°F) I have a temp gauge from Agriline having a blue sector (Fordson have green). Needle was at the border between yellow and blue If it is identical to the original Fordson gauge, this is 71°C (160°F). I was driving in 1st gear, and high ...

Re: Transporting a thermostat
Sandy, you are right. I have no clue if it is accurate or not. According to the Operators' Handbook the optimum performance for the cooling system should be maintained at a temperature of 160° - 190°F (71° - 88°C). This temperature is indicated by a green sector on the temperature gauge I will try t...
