Re: Transporting a thermostat

I did some snow blowing on Saturday. Outside temp was -5°C (23°F) I have a temp gauge from Agriline having a blue sector (Fordson have green). Needle was at the border between yellow and blue If it is identical to the original Fordson gauge, this is 71°C (160°F). I was driving in 1st gear, and high ...

Re: Transporting a thermostat

Sandy, you are right. I have no clue if it is accurate or not. According to the Operators' Handbook the optimum performance for the cooling system should be maintained at a temperature of 160° - 190°F (71° - 88°C). This temperature is indicated by a green sector on the temperature gauge I will try t...

Re: Transporting a thermostat

Hi Anybody tried to measure the cooling water temperature on the engine? I have a NPSM and would like to measure the temperature a little more accurate than the original temp gauge. On the top of the engine, there is an additional threaded hole that could be used It would be easy to install a wirele...

Re: Three point linkage stuck up.

I have had the same problem a couple of times. I needed to take off the Lift cover to get access to the Lift Cylinder Assembly. I can't recall 100%, but I think it was the unloading valve that is stuck. I just needed to push it loose and it has worked fine after. This valve is supposed to have an o-...

Re: rear axle bearing play

Hi I see you haven't got any reply on your post. I am in the process of changing the seal on the rear axle, and would very much like to learn from your experience, or any others experience. What was your conclusion about the torque for rotating the axle? Was you able to buy a felt, seal and retainer...

Re: Front wheel bearing, grease and felt seal

Henk It is kind of strange, but none of the parts manuals shovs the bearings or the felt on the figures, except one, and that is the "Owners edition" part list for Fordson Super Major. From Owners edition you will find the P/N for the felt = E27N-1193 If you look in the Repair Manual you will find t...

Bolt Locking Plates

Hi On the flywheel, front engine plate and elsewhere, Ford used bolt locking plates or tab washers for locking the bolts. The Repair Manual tells new bolt locking plates to be used. Re: removing major sump

Yes, all bolts are removed. On my first try, I didn't notice the one "in the hole" in the front,
but it is removed now.

I had expexted the sump to more or less just fall down by gravity.

I have now started to split the tractor between engine and gear box,
to see if this makes it easier.

Re: Engine Front Mounting Plate

I have sorted out that the aperture means the hole for the camshaft.
As nzMark says, the "B" will have the relief valve hole.

So it seems that the "A" and "B" is identical, except "B" has the additional relief valve hole.

Anybody knows were that hole is located on the front plate?

Re: Tombstone

3/4 UNC is supposed to be the right size.
Clean the treads.
If you are using galvanic bolts, they may also create friction
