Re: Diesel Major rear brake shoe fitting

Check the cable length again, it is possible you have been sold Major brake cables but for the E27N Major, they have all the same fittings but are shorter because the E27N brakes are inboard and closer to the axle housing.

Re: Good luck Brian and Oscar

Over the past three or four years we have approached all the Fordson Tractor Clubs in England and no one wanted to take it on or we could not reach agreement with them. The site was offered for free. We were very disappointed.

Re: Dexta Oil Data.

The multigrade 20/30W oil was used in both engine and transmission. It was originally called Multiuse and was what we sold for all tractors in the Ford range up until the introduction of the Series 3 oils in 1965. This oil was used in both engine and transmissions, approved by Ford Motor Company, to...

Re: Wanted - PM2 Plough for my Dexta

The PM plough comes in four different forms. PM2A .. Two furrow, 10" furrow width. PM2B .. Two furrow, 12" furrow width. PM3A .. Three furrow, 10" furrow width, PM3B .. Three furrow, 12" furrow width. As you can see from this there is no way to change the furrow width because the legs are part of th...

Re: Wanted - PM2 Plough for my Dexta

I have used a PM behind my petrol Dexta for many years. Only problem I had was the pins were Cat 2 and the Dexta is Cat 1. I bought a set of lift arms from an aftermarket supplier and they worked but kept bending. I found my first TS1013 Robin and eventually got it repaired and re-assembled, used it...

Re: Ford 3600 steering

At the bottom of the stub axles are the stops that prevent the stub axle moving overcentre when you turn. These get worn/broken off especially with power steering systems. Might be the first place to check.

I once got my ear dinged by my old mate Jack when I first started work. He sent me to the stores for a rubber hammer but being a clever little ...... I refused to go!

After receiving a thick ear and a severe rant, I came to the conclusion there possibly was such a thing.

Mathias, in the picture with the two blocks of wood at 5mm, if you look at the rod/spring that you are measuring, you will see it is just about the right distance between circlip and the front of the spring.

Re: super major lift readjustment / repair

Hi Mathias, neither of the arrows are right, your confusion is because you have the lift on its back. The top stop is the little "bent in " tag which your sliding stop is up against at the "bottom" of the quadrant in your picture. (if that makes sense)

Re: Site closure announcement

It is indeed a sad day for us all but it has been on the cards for some time. Oscar has been funding the site which needs extensive modification and improvement but none of the team have the time or the money to carry this out. We have looked into passing the site over to one of the Fordson tractor ...

Re: Dexta serial number

Hi Ian, welcome to the board. Unfortunately we do not have information on tractor registration, you would need to got to the DVLA site at Swansea for that, I gather from your post that there is no evidence of a registration number? That would have helped as your local County Council might have had t...

Been doing detective and forensic work for a couple of days, had my deerstalker hat on and magnifying glass with my nose pressed to the soil. Got some fair pictures of the wheel marks for the boys in blue. The thieves must be total morons, it looks like they backed a Land Rover up to the trailer, li...

Re: A few questions

Hi Peter, will try and answer some of your questions. 1. There was a very short time between casting and assembly, sometimes it was only a few days so there was little time for the castings to settle. Your tractor could be November/December 1955. 2. Where are you looking for the serial number? On th...

Re: It makes one Sick

The SCUM have struck again!!!!!!! This time they have stolen my 3 ton tipping trailer. It must have gone in the last week as we were snowed in the week before and we have been down there and seen it in the meantime. It means the person must have a tractor with a p/up hitch as it is too heavy to lif...

You would need the water pump as well because the tractor water pump has a longer shaft moving the pulley forward to clear the pump drive belt.

Re: removing major sump

Have you removed the one on the front, up a "hole" made by the sump and front mounting plate? I have had to chisel them off sometimes with a thin chisel in the join but it is always a worrying thing to do. When you take the sump down, the front always always comes last otherwise the sump will jam as...

Yes, there are a number of unique features that are not mentioned. I am going to the police with photographs and putting up a reward for the return and apprehension of the thieves. £1000.00. It will cost me that to get a replacement in the same condition. It was not stolen for scrap, it might even h...
