Re: The Pub 2018
Hi oehrick. I can vouch for the fact he was still alive and kicking a few days ago :D , I know where he hides and answers questions other than here  . He posted recently about what an automatic clutch linkage a guy posted a picture of and didn't know what it was. I don't know where he was in t...

Re: Charging alternator question power major
The dynamo uses residual magnetism to start charging initially, until the field coils kick in, the 'flashing' Bob describes can sometimes be needed to re establish this magnetism. Put flashing dynamo in the search box top right here and it will bring up a number of useful past postings. The other p...

Re: ball joint removal - drag link
Hi Brian.
When I followed the link mathias posted I clicked on the models next to the description title box. it says Major and Super Major there. I wonder if thats how the confusion comes around on that site as to what these parts fit
.

Re: ball joint removal - drag link
Hi Just to add a little to what Brian said, Those ball joint parts that are shown in the link are for the first few models of Major like E27N up to the last power majors as they had drag links from the steering box down to the axle, that had components you could adjust for wear or take apart with sc...

Re: Two rare Fordsons
If your 1942 N was used by the Canadian air force in England it could have been supplied and serviced by my old company J. J. Wright and Sons Limited who used to supply Fordson tractors to the government for Ford Motor Company and also service them. Hi Brian Talking of wrights I don't know if you h...

Re: Fordson on Craigslist
Hi Pat There are a couple of interesting things in that picture other than the reduction box, I'm kinda wondering if it's another import like the one you have. 36" rear tires, one power scalloped one new major, plain dish it's got the transmission brake to. If you listen real quiet while you are on ...

Re: Hydraulic pressure tap on single lever lift?
Hi Cal Can't help you with pressure and flow but somebody added a double acting spool on my p6, what they used it for I have no idea either :( . It takes pressure from the tip port and returns it to the plug at the back. I would think to do anything sensible with a tipping trailer you would be needi...

Re: PTO questions
Hi Dave I'm with Brain on the bottom seals for the PTO drive to. Don't ask how I learned that when I started messing around with majors many years ago :eyes: , as routine if I'm doing them I change both sets of seals, it seems some of them had leather seal material that dissolves rather than rubber ...

Re: Perkins P6 Little end bushes
Hi They should be a tight press fit, From what I heard from my buddy here in Canada those bushes coming loose and wearing was a common problem. I'm sure he said with his that he had to have the rod ends reamed out to a new size and custom bearings made and pressed in. then they reamed them to fit th...

Re: headlights.
Hi Witty where are you located as I probably have something here, "in storage" depending how good you want the chrome in the reflector, there is 1 original horn on a tractor as well but not to sure if there is anymore kicking round without looking. I'd like to keep at least one original horn if I ca...

Re: Spot the Major - tree find!
Hi Ian If there is a prize for spotting the Major ,You might have it a while
. That tractor looks to me like it's a Fordson N the one before the E27N Major. I can't really see enough color on it to be sure from the picture, but it could be a green war time one

Hi Spurtle Thats an interesting tractor with that odd wheel. from looking at your picture it has super major lower link arms fitted to. With fitting the headlights in the grills you need to buy the super major mounting brackets and the super lights. you can't just fit regular major lights in super g...

Hi Woodcutter Thanks for the reply , and glad you figured the extra steel before something failed, as not many guys think about itduring that type of frame rail conversion. Hi Woodcutter Those tyres look good on her, and she generally looks sharp to :D . Just one question about your conversion, are you going to use it for anything where the front end might come up in the air and land hard when it comes down again like pulling a big trailer or winching :?: . Hi Loufordson Looks like you are getting some interesting answers, That engine could be an upright engine from factory like Brian said, or it could of been an inclined one and the sumps been modified with the bulge cut off the side and plated over just under the starter area or at the front same sid...

Hi loufordson It was only the very last of supers had that extra knob on the hydraulic top, the Blue greys (NPSM) like in Brian's picture :) , The motor you have is a Ford 365 cubic inch 2700 Dover or Dorset series built sometime after 1965 it looks like it's maybe a D series or early cargo ford tru...

Re: roadless axle?
Hi Brian I'm not a roadless expert by any means, county is my conversion choice :) . But from my understanding the 95 was on a thousand series ford. It kinda looks to me like this might be a Heinz's 58th variety on a major or "all spare parts" as you call them  . It's got 6 stud rear wheels, a...
