Having rechecked serial number on this unit I can confirm that there was a 1 missing and as you suggest the manufacture date is
January 1958,casting codes are also as you suggest.Thankyou for your help and adviceRegards

Hi pete my bray is a 4 wheel drive ,Have just aquired the loader and the four wheel drive prop shaft is missing, could mean a substantial rebuild of the front axle ,but havn,t investigated yet.

Please can anyone advise,I have a BRAY BL 430 LOADER built on a fordson major skid unit but am confused as to the serial number which does not seem to conform to usual major numbers.Serial number on firewall plate is 457994.
