Re: Hydraulic lift slowly drops

"If you replace o rings I would recommend to get proper ones"
I agree with that, o rings aren't expensive and nearly right is not right, both in terms of dimensions and rubber grade, good luck.

Re: Super Dexta Hydraulics

I would have thought that the upper limit of the arms was controlled by the valve in some way rather than meeting a dead stop. In the same way that they stop half way up or where ever you set the lever to. You don't say whether the arms can be stopped half way? If not then there must be a problem wi...

Re: Hydraulic control issues

late reply! Just wondering if you have air in the system? not moving then moving fast once the friction has been overcome would fit your description. I'm not sure how the system is bled since the main cylinder is the highest point, if it has piston rings rather than rubber seals then minor leakage w...

Re: Looking for a new or used atomizer

I made my own, from bits of brass silver soldered together with copper tube, it had a small hole Probably about 0.8mm and a slot cut with a junior hacksaw. I will post a picture if I can remember how? I found that a rough spray will ignite if it is directed towards the hot coil, but a single smooth ...

Hello
I think what you are describing is the speed control, i.e. throttle, try opening and closing the throttle under the steering wheel, and see if it moves.

Re: Super Dexta or 2000

I think it's a 2000, Assuming it is a UK build, other variation may have been done for elsewhere? it would have been labeled Dexta, not Super Dexta which was the 3000. The lack of white paint means it is an early one which fits in with your date of 1966. We have a 1965 one still in the family. Regar...

Re: Simms Injector Pump has Issues.

Hello Mervyn Old fuel is often not a problem as I have seen (on youtube) old engines stood outside for years start. What would be a problem is moisture, if there was any water in the fuel then there would be rust and a sticky pump. This is my expensive lesson: My super Dexta was running, reasonably ...

Re: Well I've never seen one of these!

We still have one in the family, bought new in August 1965, so one of the very first, it looks just the same though except ours has safety cab fitted, dual clutch, swinging draw bar. It still runs well but breathes noticeably and I'm afraid it likes a bit of ether to start! I know, bad news but we d...

Re: Brake linkage and Swinging drawbar question

I took my check chain 'boomerangs' off, no oil came out. I suspect that non of these holes should let oil out but people have tightened over long bolts in at some point and have burst the blind hole through. My 5/8" UNC bolts underneath are leaking even when done up tight (there not too long now) I ...

Thin spanner?

Beware of replacements, I had two from A@@@line, they both leaked badly, then they sent me one from an earlier batch, which is OK.

Re: Loader fitting on Dexta's

I agree with Ben I looked at a loader from a 3000 (advertised as from a Super Dexta) with a view to putting it on to my 1963 Super Dexta but the fitting points are quite different, the Dextas have an adaptor plate between engine and bell housing, this sticks out at the bottom and has holes in the lo...

Re: Topper size

I use a 5ft topper on my Super Dexta, I think the answer is, it will be fine if you don't go too fast, I run at full revs and then select the gear depending on how thick and long the grass is, if the engine is slowing down under load then change down a gear or two. Overloading the engine is defined ...

Re: Charging Fault

Hello Charlie Your findings are confusing. But first point, the Fluke is reading 0.4mA not 0.4 Amps, which is 1000 time less, e.g. as good as nothing. Second thing the meter is on an AC range, it should set to dc amps. Next, do you have to plug the test leads into different sockets on the fluke for ...

Re: Brake linkage and Swinging drawbar question

No it's not the check chain bolts, it's the 5/8 UNC bolts which are underneath, as it happens, I also removed my check chain bolts and there was no leakage. I will have a look in the top cover at some point it's some way down my list just at the moment as the hydraulics and back axle seem work ok. R...

Re: Brake linkage and Swinging drawbar question

I fitted the drawbar parts as per above method at the weekend. A questions came up. When removing the two rear most bolts, oil came out through the bolt holes. I was concerned that someone might have put a bolt in that was too long and burst the inside of a blind hole. If so there maybe two lumps of...

Re: Never trust a new tractor but sometimes it works out ok

Good work skipdow and thanks for posting the pictures. My Dexta's (diesel) tank had many pin holes in the area where the drivers knees tend to rub the paint off, much as I tried soldering I couldn't cover the multitude of tiny holes. A tin of Slosh however did the job and now it holds fuel with no w...

Brake linkage and Swinging drawbar question

I wish to fit the swinging draw bar which had been removed and was supplied loose when I bought my 1963 Super Dexta. I believe that I have the two pieces that bolt under the tractor, the long draw bar, the rear carrier with multiple holes which allows the bar to swing to one side and all the pins. T...

I would say the pump might be worn or have sticking valves, or might just be the pressure relief valve.

Re: Best way to ck compression

If you're into electronics or know someone that is, then a good way of doing comparative tests is using an oscilloscope current probe to measure the starter motor current, more current needed to push the pistons against higher compression. and visa versa. That doesn't sound normal, will it keep the revs up when working hard? I think the maximum revs is more like 2000rpm ?? but don't quote me. It sounds like either, restricted fuel supply, clogged tank strainer or fuel filter or injection pump trouble, but fuel restriction is more likely and much chea...
