Tricycle front end
My 1958 FMD is a tricycle. Is this rare? The front wheel go back and forth at faster speeds. I'm trying to figure out if there is a way to tighten the gears in the front end.[/quote]

It runs! It runs!
I put the pump back on the FMD. I notices 1 of the bolts had lost out of the injection pump timing adjustment. I found a bolt to replace the 1 lost and returned the timing to where it should have been. Tractor starts and runs now. I put the cycle bar mower on it and mowed the ditch banks. The valves...

Thanks Brian. The shop here in Indianapolis didn't do the work. The had to send it to Louisville for testing. When I looked at the tag about adding the oil, and asked them about this, they weren't sure....but I thought you might know. The pump is a Simms pump, and taking the side plate off seems to ...

FMD INJECTION PUMP OIL
I picked up my injection pump for FMD, and shop tag said to top off the oil in the pump before running. I don't see where to put the oil into the pump and how to tell if it is filled to the correct level. Any ideas?

Thanks Brian
Thanks for explaining the injection pump timing. I'll try this to see if the timing is wrong. I marked the coupling before I removed the injection pump, and now I can see if the pump was put back on wrong. Ralph, the former owner, may have taken it off to try to get the rod out of the engine... Than...

Brian, Thanks for your comments. Tractor last ran about 5 years ago. The owner, Ralph, was having problems getting it to run correctly at that time. The throttle linkage had seized, and I believe he thought the problem was related to the throttle linkage problem. Ralph passed-away about 4 years ago,...

Major throttle linkage
I have a Fordson Major Diesel where the throttle linkage has a rod that runs through the engine block. The rod does not rotate freely and seems to be broken, as the injection pump end doesn't appear to rotate when the manifold side end is rotated. What retains the rod in the engine block? I can't ge...
