Re: Dexta not charging
Hi,
Imho there is no reason to make a Fordson negative earth. I wouldn't do that personally.
But I get curious about Sandy's statement. Can you explain why it is not recommended? Can't think of a technical reason myself.

Re: 1963 Super Dexta Head Studs
by the way, I think some guy put these on the stud after the head and head gasket where taken off. Otherwise it would be quite a tight fit to get the gasket and head over them. These are close to the 19/32" I think.

Re: 1963 Super Dexta Head Studs
Hi, The workshop manual (0ct 62) states that; "When fitting a new cilinder head take particular note of the diameter of the rear stud hole (exhaust manifold side). Where this hole is 19/32 in. diameter the current stud 957E-6066-B must be used and a washer fitted between the retaining nut and the he...

Hi, According to my parts list there should be 15 studs. 6 times 960E-6067, used 57-64 (these are the ones the rocker shaft mounts to. 9 times 960E-6066B, used 57-64 and off course 15 nuts, 117644ES used from 57-7/63 or 114203ES used 7/63 upon end of production. BOth are 7/16-20. Don't know the diff...

Hi, Mathias is right. you can do without the special tools. I allways used 10mm nut and a 13mm nut as a tool, imho with good results. I think the design was for 3/8" and 1/2" If your cam follower is ok and you have some usefull lifting equipement then the worst things are in control. The setting up ...

Hi, In the live box it are two seals around the input shafts and one gasket on the input shaft housing. Just unbolt the housing and take apart the input shaft and the seals. If I remember correctly there is a needle bearing in between the shafts. Check whether this is still ok. Leakage from the clut...

Re: fitting a front loader
Check this: this: https://youtu.be/vyxamnWR8MQ The design is somewhat related to the loader frame on the major of my father in law, but adapted for a fergy style tractor. The big support bolts to the plate between engine and clutch housing. The posts mount to that. The supports go back and are someh...

Re: Dexta leaking diesel
Hi, Cleaning and refitting the pig tail is in the lube compartment of the pump and therefore can be done without bleeding. It might be an idea to refurbish or replace the lift pump. This is a major diesel leak source in the pump. Oil lubricates far better than diesel so keeping the oil in and the di...

Re: FSM HYDRAULIC PUMP
Hi,
For as far as I know, these pumps are a Fordson special and not available anymore.
There isn't much to go wrong in the pump, they wear out and build less pressure or volume output. A sudden quit of working quite likely has another cause. Try Billy's suggestions first.

Hi, In my opinion all the aftermarket parts come out of the same factory. Only the branding differs. I was very happy with my Anglo agri parts, but can’t complain on other suppliers. Some parts are rubbish, but suppliers must make compromises between being affordable and acceptable quality. Producti...

Hi,
If you need to undo the bolts it might be best to find new nuts first. Then try to cut the old ones as far as possible and then chisel them of.

Hi,
A separate pto driven pump with valve block and oil tank might be a solution. That might be easier then finding the right valves.

Hi, This looks quite like the situation I was in. Low oil pressure and low compression. I ended up with fitting new bearing shells. Was lucky to have the diameter of the crank within specs. Pressed out the old liners and had a grove made in the block so new finished liners with flange could be press...

Just an answer from memory. Not checked it in the manual, but can’t it be a sticky unload valve?

Hi,
Have you asked your local nh dealer? Our local dealer has this stuff on stock. It’s been used at least up to the early 1990’s on ford 10 series.

Good to read it worked out. Tractors with loaders are mostly a joy to work on.
I work quite a lot in Belgium. In some areas the Flemish language is indeed almost impossible to understand for a Netherlands Dutch speaker. I can understand your colleague had difficulties with that in the Brugge area.

Hi On which list you can date an engine serial number? I’ve always learned dexta engine numbers can’t be used for dating. Was I mis informed may be? Hi, A 30 uto is perfectly fine. A 90 will not provide beter lubrication. No need to change. Try to compare the sound with another tractor. Does this sound appear with engaged pto? Hi,
Noise is always difficult to judge when you can’t hear it. Whining is usually not really an issue, unless you hear a bearing becoming really bad.
What kind of oil is in the box? Can you compare to another tractor?

Hi,
Can’t judge it to be honest. But the mounting of the stud wheel looks to be creating a weak spot in the square tube.
You have more pictures may be?
