Re: How do the stabiliser bars work ?

Very good point and one I had not considered.
As I only use the TE20 with a transport box and use the Dexta for mowing, post ramming etc., I will perhaps leave the arrangements as they are.

Re: How do the stabiliser bars work ?

I use two different stabilisers as I find the check chains are not sufficient to stop swaying and drift especially with my flail mower. On the Dexta I have bars from the Cat.1 pin on the mudguard anchor bracket to the end of the lift arms. These attach to the implement Cat.1 pins. On my TE20 I have ...

Re: front axle

I shall be interested to hear what remedies are suggested because I also wobble at higher speed on tarmac. Sometimes, on a road run, I drive along with my feet on the end of the drop arms to steady her. I had thought about welding a couple of foot rests on the arms. 8). It's the source of humorous c...

Re: Oil pressure gauge

I remember an earlier discussion at a time when I also wanted to fit a gauge - you might find it interesting. http://www.fordsontractorpages.nl/phpbb3/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=6525&p=45514&hilit=oil+pressure#p45514 . I fitted a gauge after the engine was re-built, originally as a temporary measure, but h...

Re: Lets see - Implements on your Dexta

Looks like a nice memory, especially if you still have the tractor.
No worries getting the restoration details right, if you know what year it is. Looks like some orange on the wheels just showing through, so that takes care of the wheels and grills . Just a case of bonnet badge or not.

Wow! That's the best Backhoe I've seen for a small tractor. The front-end loader is also an awesome looking rig.

Lets see - Implements on your Dexta

I'm not sure if this has been done before but anyway. This is a topic where folk can post a picture of thier(a) Dexta with an implement/tool attached, to see just how many different implements will work with the Dexta. In my last post I featured a Post Rammer and Brian spoke about his Log Splitter (...

Re: Post Rammer - follow-up

Ben, it wasn't the best photo to use - but I understand what you mean now. I love looking at the different way people do things. If you look at the picture above you'll see I'm replacing 20 year old stock fencing that's really embedded in the ground. The 710 has a couple of horses and that's my excu...

Re: Post Rammer - follow-up

Russell, if you're ever back in the area please don't be a stranger! -------------- Ben, 100mm is the max. quoted. I am using rails so haven't needed angled strainer posts. You can certainly keep the post upright on a slope. I'm using half-round stakes as I like fitting the rails to them. But do use...

Re: Post Rammer - follow-up

Thank's John. Just runs off the trailer pipe and no return needed. The ram has a small bore and stroke, so it rises quickly and more importantly falls quickly when the quadrant is lowered. I chose this one because it has a lateral turnbuckle as well as the tilt adjustment from the top-link. It was ma...

Post Rammer - follow-up

I took my Dexta for a demo/trial today and I'm pleased to report she worked the rammer very well. The hydraulics positioned it easily and the lift and drop were a doddle using the divertion valve and the quadrant lever.

I've squeezed 4" posts-in with a 3 ton digger using the tip of the boom, but that was in front of a layed hedgerow. I now need to fence across open paddocks and need each post upright. Going way off-topic. I've booked this... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HNfEdyXP5ww for a week, just to see if it ...

Re: Any experiences of using a post rammer?

Thanks Ian, the worrying difference is the flow rate of the ram closure. A trailer closes slowly where as by design the rammer ram needs to shut very quickly to trigger the fall of the weight. I guess I'll have to have a demo using the Dexta to be sure. Here is a video of it on a Kubuto compact http...

Any experiences of using a post rammer?

My 58 Dexta has the usual trailer pipe outlet and the rammer I'm looking at is a single feed/return type. Unfortunately the supplier has no idea if it would work on a Dexta, bless him. My aux. unit is a little early, basically pull out the knob and then lift the main lift lever to activate the trail...

Hi Nick, I shall look forward to watching you're progress. I'm guessing the Dexta is about 10 years old in the 68 picture with that wonderful apple cart - she looks like she'd done plenty of work by then. 68 was my last year down under (my bingo ball came up in the Vietnam draft) - I so regret not h...

Firstly, I hope you enjoy getting the Dexta working and using it. This forum is full of helpful advice and has been a life saver for me over the years. Just an observation about one of your questions, based on my own experience. My Dexta has a common problem - the main gear lever sliding out of the ...

Re: Hydraulics

The loader seems a bit severe and will compress the rear tyres - if you have a roll bar fitted and a bottle-jack you have the makings of a hydraulic press. Alternatively, try a heavy ratchet strap, or puller, between the yoke and drawbar - probably in conjunction with Brian's heat and hammer techniq...
