The parking latch is froze up on my 58'. I've been trying to get it free all morning.
This piece that my chisel is pointing to should rotate freely right? I removed the pawl - thats what goes into those 2 bolt holes.

58 Dexta - Belt rubbing lower radiator hose
Last time I was working my Dexta I noticed the lower hose was getting rubbed by the belt and it had sprung a leak when hot. Doesn't look like there is a lot of room. Does yours look this close?

Parts tractor - US -> Knoxville, TN
http://knoxville.craigslist.org/grd/5205068273.html I found this on craigslist. Thought I would pass it on. Seems high for a locked up tractor but the body doesn't look bad. If you look under the mid section on the ground you can see where its leaking oil from the bell housing. Just like mine is! lo...

Re: My Pap's Dexta
I've adjusted the brakes on both sides. The brakes work its just the pedal does not return.
For now I've wire tied the two pedals together - it kills my ability to steer using brakes but at least it's coming back up.
I will check the pivot points.
Thanks All!

Metal popping sound - front wheel
I was bushing hogging today and started hearing some loud metal popping sounds coming from my front right wheel. I'm going to jack it up in the morning and get a closer look. Has anyone replaced wheel bearings in front? If so - is this the symptoms you encountered as well?

Re: My Pap's Dexta
I finally had some time to get the tractor in the garage and get the wheel off. I can't figure out why my left brake pedal won't return up once I press it. Here is a picture of the left brake assembly with the pedal all the way to the floor. It doesn't return it just stays like this. http://i26.phot...

Belt & Lower Radiator Hose
Can anyone take a picture of the clearance between the belt and the lower radiator hose? It almost looks like on mine that the belt has notched out the hose for clearance. Don't think i have any leaks but it just seems incredibly tight.

Re: My Pap's Dexta
Did you get a chance to compare the pdf to that manual? I'm tempted to order it even if it's the same.

Re: My Pap's Dexta
I've turned it a few times but couldn't notice a difference so I stopped. Didn't know if I could break it by turning it too much. I'm going to give it a closer look when I get some time.

Re: My Pap's Dexta
Also, a couple people have said now that there is probably oil seal leaking in there and the brakes are probably oily. Do you think this is the cause of the pedal not raising?

Re: My Pap's Dexta
do not try blocking the leaking holes I dont want to block the holes but fix the seals that's making it leak. Splitting the tractor seems like a daunting task to me so I'm sure its going to take some courage building to do that. back end brakes ect need a good ovehaul possible new oil seals aswell ...

My Pap's Dexta
I inherited a 1958 Dexta from my Pap when he passed on. It sat at his old place for several years until I brought it home. I got it started at his house, loaded it up, brought it home, and took it off a trailer and she died. Well I finally got it running (must have lost its prime and it took me seve...
