Oil leak

Hi Everyone, I used the Dexta for a bit of light work last weekend and after 1 week sitting this is the oil leak. The rope seal was replaced before winter 2020 by a friend of my Father's and the tractor stayed with my Father during the winter months. Haven't just brought her to her new home I think ...

Re: Trailer hitch query for you welders out there

Thanks Jerry and Emiel. There are nyloc bolts securing the d20 hitch to the plate, but I'll get more pics up in the day light. I take both your points regarding the jockey wheel bolts. I now can assume it's an old braked coupling hitch someone welded on to manufacturing costs when a 2 bolt hitch sho...

Trailer hitch query for you welders out there

https://i.postimg.cc/cKwvYpdR/received-822478068285693.jpg At times of stress I always find the help here amazing. I wonder if you experienced welders out there could help me out? I recently purchased (on impulse) a 6 X 4 car trailer for the garden and the odd skin run behind the car / Dexta. I lik...

Re: Upgrading Dexta Handbrake

Mike, Thank you so much for this post. I've the exact same pawl set up as your (59 Dexta) however my pawl is very badly worn. I've been trying to look for a replacement for years but to no avail. I am definitely now interested also in converting to a handbrake. Thank you Mervyn for the advice. I've ...

Early Dexta Handbrake Pawl/Lever and Bonnet stay.

Hi All,
I'm looking for the early type Dexta handbrake ratchet and pawl (I believe this is what it's called). I have the ratchet that bolts onto the side, but I don't have the wee lever.

I'm also looking for a bonnet stay?

Thanks in advance,

Re: Rare dexta handbrake?

Hi All. My handbrake is the early pawl type as pictured above in Charlie63's post, the 58 model. I have the pawl but not the lever with the thumb handle. Does anyone know where I can purchase this or indeed who can make one?

Thanks

Re: Underslung or Vertical Exhaust?

My silencer tip is the standard height I'm sure. Thats a very good point. I think maybe it's more that I prefer the look and it would make mine that little bit different at shows etc.
Thanks for your reply!

Underslung or Vertical Exhaust?

Hi all. I've been on a few road runs this year. The longest being a 40 mile all round journey to a show. Now, I got thinking after experiencing the familiar taste of diesel fumes on my teeth for about an hour wether or not a downswept exhaust would result in a nicer drive? I have to admit, as a matt...

Re: Number plate bracket, and rear lamp cable routing

Hi. There are two brackets on my 1959 Dexta. One on the right to hold the light aswell and one on the left. I'm not sure about the cabling. I did mine under the left hand foot plate and joined it their to the rear lights wires which i ran down the inside of both wings.

Re: Dexta driving slow

Just spent the day with the Dexta. Took it around this morning for a speed trial - 12mph. Brought Bella back to the garage. removed the pipe from the inlet manifold to the governor at both end and blew with an airline - free from blockages. Checked the oil bath, filter clean and oil clean and at cor...

Re: Dexta driving slow

pjjms Thanks for your reply. I know that the tacho is inaccurate, using GPS I have a top speed of 12mph. I reckon I have the butterfly fully open, could it be something to do with the governor? cheers
