Re: Can You Still Get The GMC Axle They Used On Roadless Tra

Well almost none come up for sale in Ireland, so realistically I have to look to the UK. I think I'm right in saying that a Roadless Major could go for anything from £3000 upwards for a poor example. Add to that commission, VAT, transport and converting to Euros and it can work out quite a lot :shoc...

Can You Still Get The GMC Axle They Used On Roadless Tractor

I think I read somewhere that it was a very common axle and that it was used on a variety of trucks etc. for a number of years. I'm guessing most of the ones that are still knocking about are in the States? I know it might seem like an utterly mad idea but hey, Roadless tractors are expensive and I ...

Power Steering

Saw this and thought it might be of interest https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z2Rh5_AvnS4
I'm wondering where the oil feed pipes go to :? Does anyone know if this is a common type of ram (i.e. would be a relatively inexpensive upgrade)?

Broadspeed would you please post some updates/pictures of your build? I for one would be VERY interested in what you're doing.

If only I had the money!! I dont suppose you have any more pictures/ info about the transfer box? And was the front casting the original or was a stronger version fitted?

I am using Range Rover front axle.
Can I ask why you chose a Range Rover axle? Would it stand up to the torque load well? Would it be stronger than a LR axle?

Re: Dexta Roadless parts

Yes I know that in this case any information to get will be very hard  My intention is to make 4wd Dexta, one way or another  Everything is clear, except the power takeoff to front axle. May be that it is easiest to make it with chain, as all grip traction has done  If You h...

Definitely 4wd. And use a Land Rover front axle so I can copy what you do

Re: Post Rammer - follow-up

Thank's John. Just runs off the trailer pipe and no return needed. The ram has a small bore and stroke, so it rises quickly and more importantly falls quickly when the quadrant is lowered. I chose this one because it has a lateral turnbuckle as well as the tilt adjustment from the top-link. It was m...

Re: What Axle Did Roadless Use On Dexta And 3000?

Hmmmm.... okay. Well what other 4 wheel drive axles are out there if you wanted to do a conversion? Land Rover obviously, but would they be strong enough to cope with the torque loading? Any others?

Re: What Axle Did Roadless Use On Dexta And 3000?

Thanks for the reply. It sure looks similar to the Schindler axles they put on MF 135s. What are the chances of finding an axle? Not great I'd say

What Axle Did Roadless Use On Dexta And 3000?

Were they also a GMC axle? I'd love to own a real bona fide Roadless but I doubt I'll ever have the money  Maybe I could find the same type axle and make my own. Any info would be much appreciated

Re: 4WD Conversion Using A Land Rover Axle

Cheers for the reply Ben. I've seen the Allgrip Traction article too but it doesn't look that great to be honest. I was hoping to convert a Major to as close to Roadless spec as possible, though obviously using a LD axle. I'd want to work it rather than leave it in the shed :)

4WD Conversion Using A Land Rover Axle

I'm not rich enough to buy a Roadless So I was wondering if I could make one. What I'd really love to do is build myself either a NP Major or else a 6/4. I wouldn't say there's much hope of me picking up an old GMC axle so I thought about one from a Land Rover. Has anyone ever tried something like t...

What Type Of GMC Axle Did Roadless Use?

I'll probably never own my own Roadless tractor but I may be able to make one :scratchhead: I was wondering exactly the type of axle they used, if they're still to be got and at what price.
Also, what about the axle used on the Dexta and 3000? What kind of axle was it?
