Power major gearbox getting hot

Hi, I have a Fordson power major in which after running for over an hour on the road the gearbox housing becomes very warm to the point where you can only just keep your hand on the gearbox housing. I am aware of handbrake problems with majors where I have been told the friction plates lock on if th...

Fordson power major engine block (1959) WANTED

Hi I have a 1959 power with a damaged engine block, I am looking for a reasonable block to replace the one I have from the year 1959 as it would match the age of the rest of the tractor. Just wondered if anybody could help me or advise me of where I may get a block for that exact year. Many thanks Dan

Re: Plastic hole inserts

Hi brain thanks for the advice sorry to be a real pain, have looked on eBay under agricultural but cannot seem to find anything. There wouldn't be a specific name for them? Or could I potentially be searching it wrong?

Many thanks

Hi, have began to strip the linkage down on the back to free everything up, most pins are ok but am needing a pair of pins for the top arms which are shown below. Have looked around but only seem to be able to find them anywhere. I have only come across the levelling box pin. Is there a correct name...

Plastic hole inserts

Hi, I understand that ford used plastic inserts on holes that were not used on majors, to prevent the holes becoming blocked. I have a number of these on the major, although some are missing and Ihave seen that when people have restored there majors, they have left missing blanks out, which can look...

Re: Major exhaust

Hi Robert,

Thanks for your help I also came across the ford 5000 exhaust but was hesitant it may not fit, although if an exhaust that fits your county fits a major, it is likely they are the same, think I'll buy one for a 5000, it's worth it with the bellow.

Many thanks

Thanks Oehrick that explains it a lot better. Sorry but just a few more questions. Once you have removed the top cover is there a nut in there?, presumibly similar to the other end. Finally apart from the bearing seal, sourcing the tool and making a gasket for the top cover do I need to source anyth...

Re: Major number plate bracket

Thanks for your response brain will have to make one, another job! I came across this information when looking on the DVLA website, hope this helps. Many ...

Re: difference rear axle

Hi, slightly off subject have looked around but can not find a clear explanation the left seal is leaking on my 1959 power major so am thinking of changing the pair, they are the same as your right one. Is it a lot of work to do it. Do you have to remove the top cover of the rear axle. Finally is it...
