I think the circlip should be under the panel to hold the rod into the lower position. That's the way it was fixed on my Dexta. If there would be no circlip, the rod could move out of it's place in the steering box. Here's two pictures showing the trottle lever on early and later models. Also I foun...

Ben,

the holes (thread) on the LH side were used to fix a holder on tractors fitted with twin batteries. Holder with parts code E85-NA-9.

my light switch is a never used original part and as you can see, it doesnt't has rivets. Just a few flat welding points.

Ross,

use a 12 Volts battery and let the starter try to turn over the engine for about 10 seconds. Then check the heads of the rivets, which goes through the end-plate, for heat. If one or more rivets are hot .... BINGO.

Do you know which rivets I mean? If not, maybe a picture will help.

Ross, my starter had the same problem after it's overhauling. I was not able to locate the problem until the tractor was painted. Check the rivets which hold the brush holder to the end-plate. If there's a faulty connection, the rivets will be that hot, the paint will burn. After fitting a new end-p...

My Dexta is still fitted with her original spacer. I installed the front axle and installed the radius rods and then checked the gap. I fitted a few washers to have a bit free-play for the axle. The free-play is about 1 milimeters. Stefan http://foto.arcor-online.net/palb/alben/23/5338723/6236363135...

Hi Ben, the changes you've made are O.K. - Please use isolation tape to secure the disconnected wires. Auto-resetting circuit breaker? Hm ... I installed a small fuse box to secure the wirings. If there will be a short circuit, the auto-resetting circuit breaker will turn off and on intervalic. I pr...

Ben, early Dexta's were fitted with a combined Isolation/Light Switch, that's correct. So the dash board on my Dexta is restored in the original condition. http://www.fordson-dexta.de/images/panel3.jpg If your picture shows an early Dexta, the letters are as followed: A = Stop Lever, B = Isolation/L...

There's no link from the inner components to "earth", so it doesn't matter which way you connect the wires to the switch.

To use nails instead of pins is very common to the farmers. When I worked as a mechanic for farm equipments I saw them on tractors and implements nearly every day. I was wondering why they have money for nails but not for good pins. We used to call the nails "farmers pins"  An...

Chaps, the Dexta Special is a special problem. I've looked for years to find out the secret behind the Dexta Special and the search end up abortive :( There's no evidence that the Special's were only sold in Germany. I also saw them in the Netherlands. But here it could be that the tractors were sol...

It is correct, that the tractor is badged as Ford 2000 Diesel. Take a look at the rear wheels, she is fitted with the optional power-adjusted-rims. Very rare. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120331564896&ru=http%3A%2F%2Fshop.ebay.com%3A80%2F%3F_from%3DR40%26_trksid%3Dm38%26_nkw%3D...

if the springs are still elastic, I would use them. The springs on my Dexta were also very rusty, they were sand blasted and I gave them to a galvanic shop.

Guys, thanks for your compliments. Henk, the Owatrol works fine. The viscosity is lower than water, so the paint will bed-in much better to the metal and the paint needs longer to dry. All that ends up in a elastic and shiny surface that should last for a long time. If the temperature is about 20 to...

Oil filter FLEETGUARD LF596 or MANN H820/3x. Fuel filter FLEETGUARD FF144 or MANN P810x. Your parts dealer should be able to cross the numbers.

Bill,

check all the parts and send me an e-mail. I can make you an offer for new parts. In Germany alot of Lucas replacement parts are still available. Bushings, brushes, armature, clutch kit, gear, endplate and so on.
