Cheers Adrian, someone over time spent a bit of money on her, and retained the original tinwork but didn't remove all the character out of her to a proper concours job, well I had a look back in the gearbox through the selector plate but nothing seems amiss with the hi-lo, but if your's gets a bit s...
As already said looks like your doing a fine job at the plough Adrian, not much call for that up here around our part of Lancashire, an old Kidd rotoflail would probably be better suited up here.
Hi Bob, thanks for the comment  the tyres that are on her now are how she came, 7.50's up front and 16.9 x 30's or whatever there metric equivalent is on the rear, might not be standard issue for a 63 super but like you say makes her look a bit beastly. still trying to get my head round the hi...
Here you go Adrian, a pic, :D Well, she had her first big run out at weekend after the gearbox rebuild, a couple of oil leaks but noticed that the high - low selector feels to get tight and hard to move after about an hour an half on the road, any ideas guys?? http://i1241.photobucket.com/albums/gg5...
Hi Dan, Sounds like the same kind of heat build up in my 63 super, A very knowlegable member on here called Brian pointed me in the direction of wrong grade of oil causing heat build up. mine running on MorrisAG90's which Brian pointed out should be 20w/30s multiuse. What grade of oil are you runnin...
Thanks for the info Brian, maybe I should look at changing the backend oil then, as yes since rebuild you do notice that when you lift the clutch with the pto engaged it did pull her down a little, but less noticeable after she's worked abit and got thoroughly warmed up. It's also good reassurance t...
Thanks for the oil info Brian and your thoughts Bob too, so from what your saying if I use thinner oil, there less resistance and drag, therefore less heat build up and possibly gain a couple of lost horses....
Thanks again for your replies Adrian and Brian, Sorry if it's been a bit of a dumb question, next time I'm down the shed i'll get a few pics of the old (welded together) input shaft) Though I'm a bit like you Adrian, as all the tractors are basically the same in a fundamental kind of view that 90's ...
Hi Adrian, Thanks for the reply, I too used Morris AG90 in the gearbox after rebuild. i don't know what grade was in there before but after the first outing to the show but it was very very thin, was a little tacky but didn't smell burnt like it had been boiled. Now you've said about your's being ve...
Hi all, been a while since a last post but spent a few hours with the spanners on my 1963 NP Super Major, but perhaps need a bit of advice from some of you with quite a lot of experience of Major gearboxes..... after curing a few minor faults, charging, starting and instrument issues, I decided to b...
After seeing your pics Adrian I realise that my Major has the wrong levelling box and lift rod, but still nice to see not going to say too much about pto guards though All the best for the new year Paul
:D Hahaha Cheers Brian, to be fair they did come with blue exhausts, but wanting to have a smaller version or two of my real one I attacked them with the silver paint..... I've been looking through photo's but not found too many of my real tractor..... hopefully will post a few more up when I take t...
As well as having the full scale I have a couple of smaller versions of my tractor that I'd like to show you, both based on the Universal Hobbies 1/16th scale and 1/32nd scale Super Major models, they might not be everyones cup of tea but I have a few models in the cupboard that get the odd tweek on...
Thanks Brian for the explanation, mine is the type you describe with the side entry handle and the bottom ends of the forks are on a sleeve.... I've seen some that are like a one piece part at the lower end of the lift rod but if these were for a super or not I'm not sure..... :? Thanks for that lin...
Thanks for all the comments guys :D it's nice to be made welcome as a newbie on a forum..... and a bit worse as a newbie tractor owner too  I already guessed about the handbrake with it acting on the transmission, being a landrover owner for over 20 years, you get used to footbrake or nothing.....
Hahaha :D Cheers Brian and Rick, its good to hear other peoples views on power steering, to be fair she steers fairly well but has a tell tale drip of oil down the drop arm..... output shaft seal to be done over the Christmas break, it arrived yesterday along with a couple of other odds and ends, so...
Thanks for the replies...... it never really too cold here in Lancashire Brian hahaha, I nipped across to her yesterday to try and get a photo of her smokey start up..... but flat battery put a stop to that but if you think its nothing too serious than that's a good do. Thanks for the link to the cl...
Hi All, I'm new to the forum so thought I'd introduce myself and my '63 Super Major, my first tractor that I've recently purchased, she still needs a few odds and ends to tidy her up abit but will hopefully get them done over the winter and spring. http://i1241.photobucket.com/albums/gg510/valleyaxe...
