Re: Injector Pump Leak Off Pipe
Sorry for the late reply guys. Hope all is well with you all. I ended up getting my pump fully overhauled and set up. In the end it cost me around ,£500 including postage charges. I used a company over on the West Coast of Scotland their name has slipped my mind. They have done a fantastic job, no m...

Re: Leaking Fuel Pipes
Hi Mervyn good to hear from you. When I did make up the pipes myself using olives I did make sure they were set back a bit from the end of the pipe as the pipe seats inside the housing as well as the olive supposed to seal against the internal face of the housing. I did notice that the pipes I bough...

Re: Leaking Fuel Pipes
Thanks for the replies guys much appreciated. Sandy, Everything is spotless. The first set of pipes I made I used the old original unions. When they didnt seal I purchased new unions and checked the length of them to make sure they went all the way home and they were actually a bit longer than the o...

Leaking Fuel Pipes
Well its been a while since I have posted anything. Hopefully everyone is managing to stay clear of this COVID thing. Back to the subject of leaking fuel pipes. For the life of me I just cannot seem to get my fuel pipes at the lift pump and fuel cut off tap to seal and stop leaking fuel. I have trie...

Will,
The roll pin is 11/4" long x 1/4" diameter for the handbrake thumb pawl. If you PM me your address I will send you over one as I had a few spare in my workshop.

Re: Injector Pump Leak Off Pipe
Sandy, Many thanks for the advice and confirming what I thought. Wasn't sure if there were upper seals in the pump but it all makes sense. Just kicking myself as the pump was the only thing that wasn't overhauled when I was doing the restoration. Pump is now off and dropped off with pump specialist ...

Re: Rare dexta handbrake?
Will,
It is a roll pin that holds the thumb pawl on the shaft. I cant remember the size but will measure it tomorrow and let you know. If you check my picture on earlier post and enlarge you will see how it fits together.

Re: Injector Pump Leak Off Pipe
Its been a while since posting anything on the forum and hope everyone is well and managing to stay clear of this dreaded virus. The saga continues with the injector leak off pipe so decided to spend a bit of time getting to the bottom of it. I know that the Lucas CAV pumps are lubricated with diese...

Re: battery size
Sky Blue, The battery I have fitted in my Dexta is a Yuasa YBX3000, 90Ah, 700Amps. The dimensions are as follows 8 inch high by 63/4 inch deep by 12 inch wide. Fits perfect and the bonnet closes no problem. Plenty of power to start as well. I made a battery clamp from small angle to suit and retaine...

Re: Oil leak from control lever shaft(accelarator) on the in
Mervyn, I've come up trumps for your pump seals if your stuck and for the pricey sum of 0.76p + Vat each.. A company here in the UK stock them, John Charnley and Sons Tractors. If you are stuck I can order them for you and you can collect them when over in sunny Scotland. They even have a past diagr...

Re: Front pulley on Dexta
Landowner, When I rebuilt my engine I managed to purchase new 90 degree fittings complete with unions and compression fittings and made a replacement oil pipe. For the life of me I have looked for the sizes to give you and cant find them. Im sure I still have an elbow, olives and piping up in my wor...

Hi Mervyn,
Sorry to hear about all the problems that you have had with your injector pump. At least you managed to find out where your oil leak was coming from. Hopefully you will be able to get it sorted out soon and back up and running minus the leak.

Re: first lot of problems with the Dexta
Hi Mick, Welcome to the Forum. It sounds to me like you may have a stuck thermostat. Not trying to teach you to suck eggs but remove it and test it in boiling water to see if it opens. For all the price of a new one maybe just as well replacing it. Make sure it has a small orifice in the large flat ...

Re: Injector Pump Leak Off Pipe
Further update on my leak off pipe on the injector pump. I thought the fault of it leaking diesel had been cured by putting a pigtail in it. Had her out ploughing last week again and found that it was still leaking fuel. Had another think about it and decided to change the lift pump as thought that ...

Re: Ransomes Plough
Thanks Henk. I had the skimmers on to start with and had them set perfect but found they were no use for the long stuble so removed them. Found they are only any real use on grass land. Seemed to make a far better job just with the discs.

Re: Ransomes Plough
Well ive been having another play with my plough and feel ive got it pretty well set up now. The estate let me into a stuble field which is going to be ploughed over later on. Only problem I encountered is the combine seemed to leave very long stuble which in parts I was unable to bury properly. Sup...

Re: fordson dexta injection pump
Malcolm, Your lever on the injection pump is the stop lever for stopping the engine, hence the piece of rope. You tractor serial # is found stamped in the gearbox bellhousing next to where it mates to the engine. If you are sitting on the tractor it is at the left-hand side. If you look at one of my...

Re: How much paint do i need
Mervyn, You need very little hardner with the putty that is why you only get a small tube with a large tin. You usually need to mix a few amounts to get a rough idea on how long it will take to set hard. It's a bit of trial and error really to start with. Mike, I think that spring may be too wide. I...

Re: How much paint do i need
Mike, Your radiator cowl looks in pretty good nick if it is still the original. Its all down to personal preference in how good a finish you want. I bought a panel beating kit from fleebay which gave me a selection of panel beating hammers and dollies. As for filling, the filler comes with hardener ...
