Re: Thread size fuel line on a Simms pump
Eureka. Upon closer inspection of the threads, I discovered they had been distorted due to excessive tightening force. The thread angle was still approximately 60°, but tilted. I was too cautious to tighten the loaned and the new lines with anything more than hand force. I've seen too many damaged t...

Re: Thread size fuel line on a Simms pump
Thanks Sandy, A detailed answer. Today I fitted an injector line to the Major pump, for which the thread sizes were known. The pump on the Major has for sure M12 x 1.5 threads. How the backup pump has a different (UNC) version is a mystery to me. The seller said the pump was in working order when it...

Re: Thread size fuel line on a Simms pump
I also have a injector line with M12 x 1.5mm pitch. Will see tomorrow if that will fit on the Major one.

Re: Thread size fuel line on a Simms pump
Today I did some further research on the threads on the connectors of the Simms pump. Until now, I'd only been working on my spare pump. Today I also looked at the pump thtá on the Major. To my surprise :scratchhead: , I found that the threads on the Major pump and the spare pump are different. They...

Re: Thread size fuel line on a Simms pump
Been looking a bit further in to it, and my gues is that it is M12 x 1.25 mm.
Outer dia is 12 mm, angel is 60 degrees and pitch is 1.25. There's no other thread matching this data.

Thread size fuel line on a Simms pump
Trying to find some fuel lines to test my diesel pump. I have two lines from a friend. One of a 1000 series and one of a Dexta. One will fit, the other not. We both don't know which came from which tractor. :scratchhead: I ordered lines with a nut with M12 by 1.5 mm. They didn’t fit. Measured the th...

Re: Dual clutch
Sandy,
Thank you for the quick and clear response.
If I understand correctly, there are many different parts, and it will be quite a task to do this.
A shorter option is to buy a Power Major.
Regards, Henk

Dual clutch
Hello Fordson enthusiasts, It's been a while since I've been here. I recently learned on YouTube what the "F" means, cast on the right side of the transmission. Mine is a late-model New Major, and the "F" means I have a modified transmission housing for the Power Major with dual clutches. I'm wonder...

New seal for the rocker cover was send and now fitted. Fits perfectly.
With a new ground switch and new injectors, I'm ready for a nice tour on satturday with the local club.
Tanks for the help.

Re: Rockercover seal
Hi Mathias, It would be nice if you could measure them. I have contacted the webshop owner again and he has taken a new seal from stock with the same number. Guess what, it has the same dimensions as my old one. We suspect that his supplier made a mistake with stocking his seal products. The "correc...

Rockercover seal
Hello everyone, It's been a while since my last post. Way too long ago, but the good news is that the Major had no problems to write about. I replaced the injector jets. They were in bad shape and the engine smoked too much, even after installing new valve stem seals. Then put them back and it runs ...

Re: Cranckcase and oil splashes
There is no grove for the ring seal, so did'nt put them on. When fixing the front seal, do you remove only the nose and radiator or the whole front with the axle? Did it one time that way en the second time just the nose and radiator. That was not easy to get the puley back on. It's going to be a wi...

Re: Cranckcase and oil splashes
Succes!!!!!!! :D Changed the cup seals and When I started the engine the smoke was less. Let it run for a while and a bit of oil came out. Two day,s later I tested it longer and all seem weel. But of oil. Today had a drive for 10 miles, a day of demo ploghing and 10 miles back. No oil at all. I'm a ...

Re: Cranckcase and oil splashes
Just a thought.
There are 4 different brackets. Left, right, midlle and the other 2 are the same. Could be that one of them was left out of the exploded view to get a better view.

Re: Cranckcase and oil splashes
No excuses needed John.
Tractor is running smootly and with power as ever. But checking the injectors is next on my list, together with messuring the compression.

Re: Cranckcase and oil splashes
Sandy, The front pulley had a groove in it, but by using a speedy sleeve the surface is ok now. When I do the job, I will remove the whole front axle and nose together with the side beams. Works better to get the timing cover with the oil seal smootly in place. Would the rubber ring be a normal O-Ri...

Re: Cranckcase and oil splashes
Mathias, Once I had the head off because of a small gasket leak. That's all I've done on the engine. If the new cup seals do not solve the problem, the head will be the next job. Then I check the liners of course. But I think these ar good. If they leak oil, they also would leak air and there should...

Re: Cranckcase and oil splashes
I was looking into the valves seals with the help of the part slist. On the inlet valve there's a seal with number 6571. It looks like a sort of O-ring and is placed under collet and in the bottom of the retainer. There's no seal on the outlet valve. The I&T Shop Service Manual No: FO-12 on paragrap...

Re: Cranckcase and oil splashes
To day I changed the oil in HD 20W50. No result with the oil leakage at the front and excaust, altough the spashes ar larger and thicker  The oil pressure is 40 again with a bit of RPM's and staitionairy 35. Next thing to do, I think, will be checking the compression pressure. Or renewing the v...

Re: Cranckcase and oil splashes
Hello Mathias, It's Total oil SAE30 without HD. I'm going to change it in HD 20W50 oil and see what happens. Yesterday we had a club event and I taked with a view people about it. The all came up with piston rings and then the valves, but when I mentioned the oil they all say, you could be right. So...
