Thishydraulic pump flange has been nearly sorted; renewed thanks to those that replied. Back to this post; I am slighty confused as the down loaded manual I have the parts are shown...

Hydraulic pump/flange oil leak

I have a long standing weap of oil from the hydraulic pump/flange; just above the right hand side foot rest which now has become a dribble, so I need to replace the gasket and internal O ring; 1958 Dexta farm condition in regular use about 400 hrs per yr. The imperial O ring is not a problem but i c...

Re: When would these parts be used?

When using a plough or indeed other ground penitrating equipment the linkage should be allowed to have some sideways movement during work. If the plough is set up correctly it will follow the tractor correctly to achieve the desired front furrow width.

County Sea Horse

Very interesting article in this march's Farm Contractor and Large scale Farmer; one and half page article with 3 B&W photos of a floating County (1962) modified Super-4 and may be a Super-6, both marketed as the County Sea Horse. It had over size 23.1/18-26 tyres to aid floatation, together with fo...

Re:

[quote="neilarmo"]Michael, what weight are you planning on moving with pallet tines? In my experience (Ford 4600) moving the weight a foot forwards will increase the load on the loader and reduce the weight on the back axle leading to front axle problems and lack of grip. Also, HOW MUCH! I know knoc...

Re: Finaly got the engine to the refurb shop

This reply will possibily get me removed from the forum; however here goes. I have been approached by the local parish council; they have an ancient TE 20 (TVO) tractor which they use for cutting grass (towing a set of gang mowers) on the village green; the tractor has a cracked block, still runs bu...

I didn't know that Northern Tool had a UK division. I've never actually seen any of their forks, but I've used some that were made the same. They work OK if your bucket is well built and in good condition. If its a little thin, they can bend the cutting edge and the bottom of the bucket. I prefer t...

On my 1958 Dexta this has already been done when I aquired it about 2 yrs ago. It actually looks like its a different part; (plug with a properly tapped hole)\prehaps one was available from Ford; I do have recollections from the 1970's that such adapted filler plugs were available for the Ford 2000 ...

Jammed in reverse

I too suffer from the same problem, I have found that a chainsaw spanner; the one you use to tension the chain; consists of a box spanner and a screwdriver also fits the four bolts and takes up a lot less space in the toolbox.

Subsoiler

Sub soiling at this time of the year is not recomended, the sub soil should be dry. You ned to be careful or else you may smear the soil and make your drainage problems worse. Most farmers sub soil after harvest .

Re: Dexta handbrake location on early models

Just being curious;when did the location of the handbrake change to that being discussed in this post; my 1958 Dexta has the handbrake on the left hand side between the foot brakes and the linkage controls. Handbrake became available in 1959 according to my Fordson book - doesn't say which month. I...

you could also try dung walling which is pressure treated soft wood (pine) which is tongue and grooved, about 47 mm thick, 200mm width, reasonably smooth; available from Countryside Merchants and timber yards. Usually availble in 4.2 or 4.8m lengths for about £12-14 per length ( I have used it to re...

Repairing front loader ram

My experience with getting hydraulic rams repaired for farm machinery is that it is usually more cost effective to have a new ram made, they can be manufractured to virtually the same dimensions as the orginal with matching hole sizes etc. I guess there are lots of these companies out there if stuck...
