Re: fuel line won't bleed

If the camshaft happens to be holding the lift pump in tension, then the hand lever won’t do anything. Give the engine one turn, and try primer again. Incidentally, before removing complete tap from tank and dousing everything in diesel, simply remove fuel line from tap. This should help pinpoint a...

Re: Crank Pulley Removal Tool (home made!)

Tim,

thanks for the top tip! Otherwise you should remove the front axle together with the tombstone also.

Henk,

Do you use the tractor a lot? Maybe it's caused by standing still too long?

Aha, you're a man of wealth and taste (I allready knew, when people have roadless they are :D )Then it's a single pot hot bulb from France. Nice. Emiel, it's a County, not a roadless ;-). And for the French old girl: actually it's my wifes tractor. It's a tiny one single pot hot bulb. Brand name: S...

Re: Old 20's parts..hydraulic O rings...

Hello, A lot of questions. I hope some Dexta experts can help you out. Just a few idea's might help you: If you go to the New Holland parts list (the link is in this thread: https://www.fordsontractorpages.nl/phpbb3/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=7876) you can find the sizes of the o-rings on the hydraulics. ...

Re: New Member / Buying advice

Thanks, I'd found the workshop manual online alright but never though to look in the parts catalog, that first picture is perfect to see whats going on. Having had a brief look at it today after it arrived home the pto is turning at the moment with the clutch up, I tried putting some resistance aga...

Re: Brake actuators - super major

Hi Mathias Don't know if this help's but I have 2 pairs of new discs and linings and 2 new actuators which are genuine Ford parts which I acquired with other new Super Major parts including some gears and bull pinion shafts in the early 1970's and which I keep for whenever I might need them. The di...

Thanks but there is not a scrap of the original blue left :(
Also not under the bonnet? I used the paint on the inside of the dashboard panel below to get a match. I wonder if a color would be found behind the little gear change plate.

Re: Brake actuators - super major

some years ago, also replaced the brakes ( brake discs, and brake actuators ) on the super major, also the same problem !! it didn't fit !! ( it was just a few mm ) therefore I carefully put the brake disc in the lathe, slightly removed some material from the 4 brake disc surfaces! Janus it's a sha...

Re: Brake actuators - super major

I did some more investigation: The new actuator disc is easily 3mm thicker then the old one (as far as I can measure the broken one) There's less then 2mm between the 2 rotating discs, so fitting smaller balls will not help.. Taking off material on the roating disc is almost impossible. The springs ...

Dave,

Would it be possible to place more paper gaskets? As for the side pulley, it's also advised to put more than 1, to avoid spinning in neutral. I think it's worth a try.

Rick,

These haven't been changed by county. Which seems rare to me. Even for the County super 6 they are using the same style of brakes. But it does brake on the 4 wheels.

Re: Brake actuators - super major

The standard size of the ball should be 7/8". Will open one tomorrow and see if this is right. I'm thinking of following the suggestion of Shepp to place smaller balls. Maybe like 3/4", Should give a few mm extra room.

Brake actuators - super major

Since one of the brake actuators was broken on the Super 4, I ordered 2 new ones to install. Seems like the combination of all these new parts is to width to fit in the housing. When all screwed together the wheel can't be turned. All screws are set loose... Woodcutter once reported the same problem...

Hi, The 11" is the basic clutch, which acutally is allready quite strong. Back in the day a heavy duty 11" was available, which was later replaced by the 13" really heavy duty applications. THe dual 12" live drive clutch is a littlebit sensitive to abuse, although it still is a quite sturdy design....

Re: Leaks.... All over the show!

Hi all 10 days ago we had a lovely Fleming 6ft topper delivered, and I’ve been out on Trevor mowing the field (4 acres). I’ve established that I have more leaks than I initially thought, having already replaced various seals before I bought him home (I’ve been working on him at work until recently....
