Oil bath filter - seal

About 7 years ago I installed a new oi bath filter on the super major, as the clamp was worn and the bottom part was beyond repair. It went with a V-type seal, but through the years it was always a pain in the ass to install and it never sealed well. Today I got it apart and found the seal had come ...

Re: solenoid troubles

Yes, in this picture the cable is probably taken off. I need to put a new crimping end on it. Might get that fixed first and use the solenoid from another tractor to see if it's working. All might be caused by a bad connection, as there where sparks there in the past :s The tractor is now a bit far ...

solenoid troubles

I think I need a new one. Seems like the stut is broken and I only have clicks when I try to start the tractor, but no luck so far.
Is this model still available? I just seem to find one with the start button on it.

Yes, the new seal is like twice the side.
I did cut it in half...
The split pins could be installed right away.

Henk, it might be worth taking the head off. It will allow you to check the liners for grooves.
Did you ever recondition the engine your self?

Re: PTO problem? Gearbox noise Super major 1963

Good evening, question: do the new performance shaft with seal 44 fit into the older models pto housing from before June 1963? And the other way round, older shaft with seal 54 into np housing? Thanks and regards, Huub Hello Huub, the pto drop box does have a different size on a new performance tra...

The seal depends if you have a new performance tractor or not. The double lip is for the new performance tractor. All others have 2 seals back to back

Re: PTO problem? Gearbox noise Super major 1963

Hi, I think it's worth looking at the bearings in the pto box. It's not a big job, you will need to drain the oil from the rear end and gearbox. Before you start with this, check the oil level in the gearbox. take out the pto shaft from the back. dismantle the pto lever and you should be able to tak...

Hi welcome on the board.

If you drain the oil and take of the side cover, it might tell you a lot.
Transmission handbrake could be causing rhe problem.
Is it possible to engage disengage the pto without any issues?

Re: engine/transmission dowel pin question

I fitted a new dutch Kawe double clutch to be able to use the 6 cylinder rpm and power. Some pain in the wallet, but there is only one way and that's the right way. However, it was a little nightmare to fit the engine to correspond with the splines. I have the same clutch in my County, so far I'm h...

Re: question about O-ring power steeering cylinder

I'm busy with the power steering and I think I solved the mystery on O ring 28. According to the I&T manual there was an early production power steering control valve. this specific o-ring is not on the diagram. It only shows up on the later production power steering cylinder. Obvious there is also ...

That was a typo. 12.4x36 of course. In my eyes 13.6x36 looks nice.

16.9x30 surely is nice.
would 13.6x36 be the biggest possible on the standard rims?

Re: 1963 FSM rear wheels scalloped or not

Original was the scalloped wheel centre. But the round one will fit and work good. Only change the track width takes more time. Tire size back then was 11-36, which in modern tires is 12.2x36. Emiel, is it 12.4x36 you are thinking of? I have it on one of my super majors. 16.9x30 also looks good on ...

Re: bolt size brackets headlamp

Just replaced mine this week, 5/16 UNC was fine, ran a tap down to clean up the rust in the threads first yeah I ordered some unc taps to clean it up. One bolt was sheared off, so I used the welder to weld a nut on. It did get out with ease. I have the headlamps in the grills, and I found out the 1...
