And a lot less damage when you forgot to release it.
Transmission breake works great.but can create a lot of work in the transmission part of the tractor.

Re: Rebuilding a fuel injection pump
You should hear it without exhaust! :D The pump coupling is making the noise. I made the mistake to put the old coupling part on the pump becouse the new part had the wrong keyway should have made the new part to fit the pump... Maybe some day I feel like fitting the new part and the noise wil be go...

Re: Power Major PTO locked up and lost reverse
In this link http://www.fordsontractorpages.nl/phpbb3/viewtopic.php?p=13024 First picture second page you can see the parts. You will need to split the tractor and remove the gearbox to get to the parts. The nut was used to keep the reverse idler gear in place there should also be a bolt and washer ...

Sounds formiliar.
I was also missing one of the caps.
I hoped to find it somwhere in the engine but no luck als could not find a replacement so i got rid of all the caps and adjusted the tappets to no cap.

Re: New Major oil leak after trans being split
From what i understand in the link of the produkt it is something used to soften and expand older gaskets. What you have is a leak with new gasket. I am thinking that at the place she is leaking there is no gasket. Maybe it was still a bit greasy and the gasket doesnt stick. But then again you are o...

Re: New Major oil leak after trans being split
I would advise to split here again and use something like multiblau gasket sheet to make a new gasket.
I only use liquid gaskets if there is no other option.

You always run into suprises when taking things apart sometimes you cant even understand it worked in the conditions some parts are when you take them apart.
But its always a nice feeling when put back together and all works fine

Re: Rebuilding a fuel injection pump
Nearby is a jet cutting shop where if been once in a while they cut 200mm stainless steel with a water jet. Only catch is there is an abrasive put in the water so its realy sanding away the material but with very high presision. Its still impressing to see the water jet cut thick steel plate. I know...

Re: My Super Major restoration
This tractor has been used or rather abused. Its going to be a lot of work to get here in tip top shape. You have to pull the liners and look at the bottom o-ring groove clean them very wel and hope your in luck. If they are coroded away you might just be wanting to look for another engine. Ofcourse...

Re: Rebuilding a fuel injection pump
The inverter I am using can indeed display rpm but there is a reduction in the pullys so then i would need to calculate again. I found an old counter in a box wired it up with a turc sensor and now i was ready for counting revs. The book says it should be running at 200 rpm but the motor did not agr...

Re: Rebuilding a fuel injection pump
I ran into a small problem setting the pop presure on the injectors. When I had the head skimmed and new valveseats and guides placed, the shop also tested the injectors and replaced one nozzle. Now I was setting the presure to 2700psi i noticed only the new nozzle opend with a nice crack the old in...

Re: New owner E1A running/timing issue
Ouch youre in for a nice bill if its salvageable.
If the cambox isnt worn out and the cam is not in bad shape. It might be .
Another good pump maybe cheaper.
But if you get it rebuild you know for sure its a good pump.
Good luck keep my fingers crossed for you

Re: Rebuilding a fuel injection pump
I had that happen to with bearings and 3 jaw pullers, your pulling on the outer ring so it wants to expand because the balls want to go up the side of the path there running in. Eversins I had a bearing explode like that i put a thick cloth around the bearing if its pullled on the outer ring. It sca...

Re: New owner E1A running/timing issue
I would have suspected that the screw on the first picture would have been turn out a lot more explaining the large amount of fuel causing the black smoke and soot. Are you sure the engine can get all the air it needs? Clogged airfilter or imploded airhose? You could also take a sneak peak behind th...

Re: New owner E1A running/timing issue
It does look like at low rpm white smoke equals unburnt fuel. And higher rpm to much fuel gives you the black smoke. You could take the cover of the side of the pump and check if the rack is moving freely. ( dont touch the screws on the inside they are calibrated to give every cilinder the same amou...

The larger plungers where already on this engine so the larger injectors should be to I think. Wil check to be sure.
