Emiel, Frank & David, I understand David Monton's side of the story, but can he tell us what year Barreiros had their initial talks with Perkins, and what year did they produce their copy of the P6. Did they buy in Fuel Injection Systems from CAV or build them under Licence. The same goes for the El...

Hi All, The Brockhouse Torque Converter was available in the Super Major, Industrial or Agricultural tractor, from early 1962. It was very expensive. When the basic tractor on 15x30 rears cost AU1485 Pounds, the Brockhouse Torque Converter cost a further AU581 Pound. There were photos on the old sit...

David, Some years ago we used to correspond with a young lad in the UK and I believe he had one of these tractors. Although at that stage it wasn't painted Light Blue. He referred to it as an 'transitional model'. I think he and his father sold their collection, as it is quite some years since I've ...

Steve, The Temperature Gauge for the Fordson has a black background (not white) and, of course, the IH logo is not there. The rest of the dial face is quite accurate. The Temp Gauge for our tractors was made by a company called Flexdrive of Moonee Ponds, Melbourne. They made gauges under licence to ...

Stevo, The correct size for a 6 volt P6 battery is:- Length 360mm. Width 121mm. Height 318mm. 6 Volt 21 Plate 174 Amps. Both Batteries weren't the same, there was a Left Hand & Right Hand battery. The reason given for the odd shape, is that they were originally submarine batteries. Obviously after W...

Hi Frank, The weights given in the County Instruction Book are basically the same as the previous answer. 7175lbs for the Kero, and 8180lbs for the Diesel. Any variation will be the width of the Grouser Plates. (3 different widths available). If you have to hire a truck to carry it, you really need ...

TK,
I neglected to tell you that there are also Two Pilot Bolts between the Engine and Front Transmission. They are in line with the top holes of the mid-mounted implement pads.

Message for Aussie Frank.
Frank,
When I had my new Loom made, I retained the old one, so if you need to borrow one let me know.
If the tractor is fitted with lights and generator there are two looms involved.

Can someone ID this old Fordson Tractor
Mervyn, The photos supplied give us a few clues to the year of this tractor. Firstly. It is fitted with the four vertical position drawbar and this arrived in January 1947. Secondly. The remains of the electrics show the 'kidney dish' electrical box and this was phased out in February/March 1949. So...

Kev, The 510E shows in the August 1963 Price List as 100BHP at 2500RPM for the replacement or conversion of truck engines ONLY. It was priced at 648 POUND AUS. I would have thought the truck Flywheel would have been quite abit lighter than the tractor version. Also, for interest sake, the 590E shows...
