Re: Super Major final drive/diff/pinion&bull gears WANTED

Hi Guys, Just a 'tactful' step in here... I fully understand that what has been going on is simply 'friendly banter', but let's keep it that way, before someone unitentionally creates offence. Don't you agree? It's all too easy, these days of 'tinternet' to do that, because someone at the other end ...

Re: Fordson-Dexta.de

Oh Dear! I've just checked. It seems that the ownership of "fordson-dexta.de" has lapsed. You usually pay for ownership of a site name for 2 years at a time (even if you thought of it first). Looks like Stefan has decided not to renew his ownership so, it's up for sale :( In other words, the site is...

Re: Crimping un-insulated 'double-crimp' terminals

Ben, If you want to do a lot of this work, professionally, like Brian, then buying a good quality tool is a MUST. If however, like me, you just want to do the occasional job, then go to Halfords, or Machine Mart. You can buy a 'kit' from there that is a plastic box (approx 10" x 4". It contains a ba...

Re: Malvern Tractor Show 3/4th March

Hi All, I went to the 2012 show at Malvern on Saturday. As Ben says, it was 'heaving' with people. Massive auction (No, I did not bid anything this year :D ) Following are some pictures (27 of them  ) of the Ford/Fordson section of the show. http://fordsonlad.dyndns.org/MikeK/TW201201.JPG http...

Re: Dexta wiring, please help.

Hi conar22, There is another possibility for this problem, that I have experienced myself on my Major. You say it is a fairly new regulator. They are not made to the same quality as they used to be, check this... With the top off the regulator, to expose the coils, look at the unit with the coils fa...

Interesting.
A lot of information here, not just tractors.
The Fordson manuals I have looked at, so far, appear to be scans of the IT&T manual.

It's periodical and, I think, just a fact we have to accept. It will be affected by internet and server traffic in your area. It will be affected by any 'on demand' anti-virus settings you have. It is frequently affected by internet 'bots' and search engines, just look how many hidden users are alwa...

Looking for a Bracket

Does anyone have the remains of a Fordson Major number plate lamp? I need just the bracket. It does not matter about the actual lamp, or the box carrying the trailer socket. I have both of those. I just need the bracket that is in between them. Can anyone help? http://fordsonlad.dyndns.org/MikeK/rea...

Even better ! Had the day off from decorating and went on Saturday. Then I got in trouble at home  Looking around the auction, I saw a McConnel Swingover Hedger. Complete wreck, with terminal damage to the main body, BUT, the parts that were damaged on mine were in perfect order. AND, the knif...

Oh the memories. I had a Regal, the fore runner of the Robin. Got it from a scrap yard, when money was tight, and rebuilt it 'from the floor up'. Simple chassis, easy to repair or replace. The exhaust could be easily refabricated from electrical conduit and empty bean cans (Oh yes I did !). Although...

OK, a 'finger bar' or 'cutter bar' type hedger is obviously safer than a more modern 'flail hedger' if you have no cab. They give a neater cut to the hedge, as the flail cutters leave the hedges looking more 'ragged'. The problems are: 1) Unlike the flail cutter, you have to collect up all of the cu...

I would recommend taking the tap off. You can then clean it out thoroughly, before you start and after, to remove all traces of lapping paste.

I know Robert is warning about 'shearing' off the thread, but you take that risk even if you were to fit a new one. Just go carefully.

Nick, I had the same problem with my old girl, when I first got her. Both the drain tap on the block and the radiator. They are both brass and quite simple in design. Just take them off, clean them, then gently reseat them using valve lapping compound, turning full circles, clean, then look for a br...
