I've just seen this 5m x 2m drawbar trailer come up for sale near me, it looks like it could be a little too large for a dexta - what do you guys think? worth seeing?

Re: Dexta died and will not start :(
Doesn't it act like an engine/injector cleaner Jerry? I'd rather try the bottled stuff first mind!

Re: Dexta died and will not start :(
I've had the same thing happen when I've got a bad seal somewhere in the fuel system. If it only ran for a few seconds I should think the air leak (if this is the problem) will be on the pump somewhere. Once the engine has fired, I should think the heater plug is irrelevant. When trying to restart w...

Re: Dexta died and will not start :(
Before I repaired my lift pump the injector pump would only spray a couple of inches, however this was good enough to start/run the engine (though it ran poorly). Now my lift pump is fixed the injector pump now sprays several feet into the air. Remember not to stand around breathing in airborne dies...

Re: Dexta died and will not start :(
Doesn't sound hopeful :? I can't see that all your injectors would fail at the same time, but I'm no expert. From my experience the engine starts easier when the injectors aren't atomising well. Considering it was running one minute but not the next and you've ruled out fuel starvation and are getti...

Small Backhoe
I'm playing with the idea of getting a small backhoe for my dexta. Has anyone had any experience with the lightweight backhoes sold for smallholder tractors like this? http://www.jpfrance.fr/img/pop/01pop831.jpg Besides other worries such as there strength/usability and possible damage to the tracto...

Re: Dexta died and will not start :(
The picture is of a super dexta pump, if you've got a dexta the bleed screw is just below the number 1 (left) injector output. Fingers crossed it's just a blockage or air.

Re: Dexta died and will not start :(
I'd check for air in the system first. My dexta stopped the other day after 2-3 hours of hard work, turned out that I hadn't tightened a line into the lift pump well enough and it had started letting air in.

Re: New thermostat
If pulling the aux keeps it up then at least you can rule out certain areas, if you look at the diagram in the workshop manual you can see what could be leaking by looking "down stream" of the aux valve. Sadly I think thats a long list!

Re: New thermostat
The middle section on mine is green, but could be faded blue. The needle sits at about 180/185 which from what you've said sounds normal which is great. It's odd that they've made the red section cover over half the temp range :scratchhead: . I replaced all the o-rings and the piston seal which was ...

New thermostat
After the hydraulics on my Dexta stopped working I decided to do a number of jobs - hydraulics, lift pump, leaking combustion chamber gasket, water pump and a new thermostat which I discovered wasn't even fitted. She now runs sweet as a nut and doesn't smoke or miss a beat once hot (She sounded horr...

Maximum Lift Load
Hi,
Could anyone tell me what the maximum weight the 3 point hitch will take on a Dexta, I'm looking at buying a box or bucket for moving soil/gravel/hardcore around.
Cheers

Re: Hydraulics have stopped working
Cheers Tom!
Stefan's site showed clearly what I was doing wrong, I'll get on with that tomorrow.
Hopefully my Agriline order will come too.

Re: Hydraulics have stopped working
I've ordered a new lip seal for the piston, and have replaced the pin using a 8mm bolt (reduced the size a little by hand to get it to 5/16) I think a drill bit would be too brittle. I'm trying to adjust the lift settings but am having a little trouble following the wiki method.... "Adjust the turnb...

Re: Hydraulics have stopped working
I've tested the pump by cranking and it seems to have a good flow on it, I've dismantled the lift, checked all the valves, cleaned everything and I'm now waiting for replacement o-rings and gaskets. The cam follower pin on the lift control mechanism was sheered off, but I'm not sure if that was the ...

Re: Mineral engine oil for rear axle.
I perhaps gave up too easily on universal oil, I went down the local agri shop and he looked at me like I was mental as I tried to explain what I was after - but it could have been lost in translation. Anything remotely specialist is very very expensive here anyway, so bog standard mineral engine oi...

Cheers mate, I must be going blind.
I'm going to presume the summer weight of a multi-grade can be ignored.

Mineral engine oil for rear axle.
I've seen it mentioned that you can use a mineral engine oil for the rear axle and hydraulic system of older tractors. I'm currently overhauling the hydraulic system and I don't have the option of buying universal tractor oil in France, or anything more specialist. It's either hydraulic fluid for mo...

Lift Pump Question
I bought a Dexta in the spring and although she runs okay, the engine is slow to pick up, seems to drop a cylinder sometimes and simply lacks grunt. I've changed the fuel filter and injector nozzles and had them calibrated which made a small difference but I'm still not happy. It never occurred to m...

Hydraulics have stopped working
Hi, Whilst topping some fields the other day I stopped for an hours break, started her back up and found the back arms were completely unresponsive. Due to a small leak I presumed the fluid had dropped too low and decided to drain the system and replace (without first testing for pressure at the aux...
