Re: What is the correct engine rpm for 540 pto rpm ?
Good Morning,
1200 turns on the motor will give 540 on your pto, which in case of heavy loading on the bush hog Will labour your tractor (it does my 61 )
If i were you I would set about 1300-1350 revs without load, the motor will pull much easier!

One more thing,
You must not undo the two nuts on the clutch, these are for ajusting timing. Just pull the the pump out out of its place when all bolts are removed.

Ed
As Henk says it would be a good idear to mark the two halves of the pump clutch before removal.
Then when the time comes to reinstall the pump, simply ensemble the clutch so the marks line up again.

Re: Suspected Fuel Pump trouble
Yes it must move easy, when you take the cover off the rack should be pulled to one side by the governor.Grab it with 2 fingers and pull it to the other side, let go and it should snap back where it was.Try it at both full throttle and idle setting, the rack must not stick. All this with engine shut d...

Re: Major restoration
I have worked on 2 supers and always found the injectors covered with black oil on removal,I dont think it means there is anything wrong with them. It is normal for a major to smoke if it has been ilde for a long time. I have found the major engine surprisingly tolerant of malajustjment and lack of ...

Hello Tim, The issues you have make me think the vacume unit is malfunktioning, since you have replaced the diaphram I think it could be the damper-piston has fallen off the control rod within the diaphram bell-house. Alternativly it could also as Old Hywel says be a sticking pump-rack,A check under ...

Re: Cracked head?
should the problem persist, then you should double check the radiator for clear internal passages, the condition of the waterpump and the coolant operating tempeature of the engine(correct thermostat).Give the engine block cooling system a flushing as well. If all this fails then you are looking at he...

Re: Cracked head?
Welcome back Josh, You could try this, Remove termostat and check it with boiling water , If it opens as it should now drill a tiny by-pass hole (About 2.5mm) in the the thermostat plate next to the valve opening. This will prevent air stemming from minute leaks in the head from building up under th...

Agriline say their kit is not suited for loader use
unless modified,I suppose they mean mounting subframe changes/hose-routing and such and not that the unit itself is unsuited for loader duty?
Is it the same size of unit the County uses? Nice Pix!

Dave/Mathias,
Does it help if you rev up the engine,if so perhaps it would help if you could drive the pump with a larger pully?
a photo of the installation would be great

You will need a thread tapping tool the same size as the original bolts, once you have drilled the bolts the tool is great for cleaning out the thread.
Perhaps someone on the board could help with what size the bolts are ?

If a bolt is broken off flush with the casting, grind the boltend smooth then mark the exact center with a punch now using a succesion of drills hollow out each bolt until only the thread remains.now use a screwdriver or a spiral extractor to pull out the remains of the bolt and the hole is ready to...
