Re: External spool valve
Thank you Shepp and Sandy, I would never have worked that out without your instruction. The plough is actually a 3 furrow Lemken but having lifted it once with the hydraulics complaining I intend to remove the 3rd furrow and use it as a 2. It also has a depth wheel which I won't use in the 2 furrow ...

Re: External spool valve
Hi Sandy, My plough is single acting ram with double springs for the return so not just sure what to do. I did wonder if the three way control button on top of the standard spool valve would work in the middle position, ie will the plough lift up then when the link arms get to the top of the travel ...

External spool valve
Hi, I have bought a Lemken 2 furrow plough with hydraulic turnover. My query is how will I be able to lift and lower the plough in and out of work and turn the plough over using standard Super Major hydraulics without fitting an external spool valve, which I have in stock. Hydraulics are in good ord...

Re: first start up
I used Welham Diesel, Leicester to completely overhaul my Super Major pump, very good service, pump spot on. Was £375 for complete rebuild including all parts. Maybe worth a phone call

disc brakes
I have a super major. The brakes on the right hand wheel are completely useless, very spongy and there is a slow oil leak from the housing. What does everyone with brake experience suggest I need? Besides a new oil seal will I need a new disc brake assembly, lining set or other things? Or is it best...

Re: Super Major lift arms
OK,.....so I did'nt go subsoiling with sick hydraulics !! The gasket and O rings arrived on Tuesday. I had to take the tractor to an engineer to helicoil one of the bolt holes that holds the valve chest on as I had over-torqued it and messed the threads up ! Got it home, removed all the gunge from t...

Re: Super Major lift arms
I have removed the valve chest ansd found quite a lot of 'gunk' under it. So have ordered a new gasket and O ring set, cleaned it all up and have to wait now for the gasket but I feel that I have put too much goo on it and it has blocked some oil way. Lets hope it all works, I'll let you know :D :D ...

Re: Super Major lift arms
Well thanks for the replies. I have had the valve chest off before and had no problems, why it has decided to do this now is a mystery. The only thing that is different is the addition of this particular type of gasket sealant, applied with a brush as opposed to just a 'squirty type' of sealant tube...

Super Major lift arms
I've been subsoiling today and the valve block sprung a bad leak, the gasket having failed. So into the workshop, remove the valve block, claen everything up, apply Heldite gasket compound to both surfaces, fit new O rings onto the block, refit the block, leave for a short time to let the compound g...

Re: valve block on rear end of super major
Will do Sandy but there is a slight oil leak from the outside casing of the brake so off it must come !! I guess there is an oil seal in there somewhere that needs renewing.

Re: valve block on rear end of super major
Thanks for advice Sandy, I've managed to fix the leak in the glass bowl filter so all is well.
Next the offside disc brake needs dismantling, I think there may be an oil leak from the back end into the housing as the brake is non-functioning. Hope it's not a 'major' job !

Re: valve block on rear end of super major
Well the gasket never arrived so this morning made one. Put some instant gasket where necessary, put the valve block on, bolts in and hey presto, all works well....on tick-over anyway !
Thanks for all your advice and help. Got a few diesel leaks to attend to now....

Re: valve block on rear end of super major
Hi Sandy, Thanks for the diagrams. I have taken the bull by the horns and got the plugs out, not by the method described but by my own method ! Plug D already had a small hole in it so I put a wood screw in and it came out easily. Plug C, I had to drill a 2mm in it and it came out easily. Then I had...

Re: valve block on rear end of super major
The leak, not gushing, is from the rear of the valve block, the smaller of the two ports if that helps.
I wonder, if you would'nt mind giving me an email address I can send pics that way ?

valve block on rear end of super major
Hi My super major is leaking oil from the left hand port of the valve block. I have pictures but am unable to put them on the site. It's the smaller of the 2 ports, I am guessing that there is maybe a ball in there secured by a roll pin. Can anyone put me right on this please and suggest a remedy? T...

Gearbox breather bolt
Re the breather bolt, I've just fitted a live drive box, new oil and seals etc and find that there is oil seeping from the steering box/gearbox joint when it gets warm and on reading this I am assuming that it is being forced out by pressure because there is either no breather bolt or it's blocked. ...
