Me too! Working in a garage helps. My boss is quite nice about letting me use bits and pieces.Kim wrote:Congratulations on your repair job; it is what I would have tried first. Replacements from a wrecker are fairly easy to come by but being a cheap old yankee, I like saving money!

Any help will be appreciated. Any ideas where I could source a cont...

I welded in place a section of threaded rod (M8x1.25) by welding just a little section at a time trying not to generate too much heat. It seemed ok so I did the same with the other bit....

I broke it!!!
I noticed oil leaking from rocker cover on my '57 major diesel, went to tighten the bolts a bit and the front one broke!! Wasn't the bolt that broke, oh no, it was the threaded part on the rocker shaft that broke!! Only a tiny little bit of it left. Any ideas on how to sort it or will I have to repl...

I had the same problem. Soaked the plunger with WD-40 and worked it up and down gently with a screwdriver. Works fine now!

Engine Rebuild Kit
I was looking at a Rebuild kit from a well known supplier for my '57 Major . They offer two options. One kit has 1 1/4 Pin Pistons and the other has 1 3/8 Pin pistons. is there anyway I can find out what one I need for my Major without stripping it down?

Fired up no problem, however after ten minutes I noticed the exhaust side was covered in oil. Could this be down to 'breathing' problems do you think? I'm goin...

High Idle Speed
Haven't had a proper look yet but my Major seems to be idling quite high and was wondering how to adjust it? Haven't looked at throttle linkage etc yet just thought I'd ask on here first.
