Re: Wheel weight bolts

Thanks Mathias - So if I go for the threaded bar option, which seems to be preferable on a cost basis, I just need 3/4 UNC threaded bar - high tensile steel - x 15 inches or so, and then cut them back to size?

Thanks again

Re: Wheel weight bolts

Thanks very much Emiel I will certainly have a look at Pocock many thanks. Please could somebody point me in the direction of the parts list as referred to by Tim? I need the specs for the front slab weight carriage bolts, I know this has been discussed on here previously and I remember reading a de...

Wheel weight bolts

Evening all, Does anyone know where in the UK it would be possible to obtain wheel weight bolts for a Major? I would need the 5 bolts to hold the starter weights and then the bolts to hold the rest, along with the tabs of course. I've seen a couple of items on EBay but don't know what the quality wo...

Re: Correct coolant level

Thanks Timeee!

In that case I will brim it right up to the rad cap, and let it chuck out what it doesn't want out of the overflow. Once that's stopped then I know its at the right level.

Great, I'll fill it up in the morn.

Thanks again,
Will

Re: Correct coolant level

Sorry for sounding dim but I want to get this right as I am in the process of installing a new radiator.

How do I know when the water level in the radiator is correct? Presumably if I take off the rad cap when cold and I can see coolant in the hose then that is overfull? Or not?

Thanks again!

Re: Correct coolant level

Thanks very much for the replies. My question wasn't very clear, its really the pressure cap question to which I refer. I have been filling the radiator but presumably this does not give any room for the coolant to expand with the pressure cap fitted, as it would do in the header tank of a car. I th...

Also I have a pressure rad cap fitted, is this correct or should I have non-pressure cap?

Thanks,

Correct coolant level

Hi all, I've searched in vain - i can't find anything in either workshop or owners manual to tell me what the correct coolant level is. I know how much the system holds, but I've been flushing and reverse flushing and topping up etc etc, now I've lost track of how much is actually in the system. Is ...

Re: Oil out of timing cover breather

Thanks for the reply Timeee. I was really surprised to see the baffle plate, my first thought was that it was an aftermarket bit that somebody had put on for some reason, however it does seem to be a design of the np engine as, from a photo that @mathias1 posted, his has one too. Having given it a g...

Re: Oil out of timing cover breather

Thanks for the response. Yes the pipe is totally clear, I soaked it in diesel for 5 days and got all the carbon and gunk out of it.

I'll try and get a picture and post it, it's more like a plate than a baffle, I can't see how any breathing is being done at all at the moment..

Oil out of timing cover breather

Hi all, I have an ongoing issue with my tractor in that, after some use, the engine starts chucking oil out of the timing cover breather. I've read up on this and understand it could be the rings that need doing, it could be some hard work would help, but equally when I take the rocker cover off I s...

Re: Tyre changing issues

Well in the end I managed to do it with my air bead breaker, what was left of the tyre went with a huge bang accompanied by a shower of rust everywhere, luckily I was wearing safety glasses. Anyway the upshot is that I'm going to need a new rim. I've managed to weld this one enough to get a tyre on ...

Rear wheel weights

Is there a buy and sell section on here?

I'd potentially be interested in a full set of rear wheel weights if anyone has any for sale?

Re: Np super question

Hi all, Thanks for the information - interesting stuff. My tractor was built in Oct 63 (3L11 to 3L18 casting codes) and seems to be mostly FoMoCo stamped, with the odd Enfo here and there. I'm in the process of trying to retain the original lapsed registration from DVLA, to try and keep it as origin...

Re: Tyre changing issues

Thanks for the response Rick, I'll get the wire brush on the angle grinder tomorrow and see if getting rid of some rust helps me to move the beads.

you're correct the rubber bead seems to have turned into rust on the rim! :?

Tyre changing issues

Hi all, Sorry for another post but I'm having some tyre changing issues. I've done three out of four tyres ok, but the near side rear I could not break the bead on it for love nor money and in the end I had to cut the tyre off the rim. So now I'm left with a rusty rim, and the dregs of a bead on eac...

Re: Np super question

Mudgards on supers are different from the previous majors, since the brakes are different Yes I will have to let some metal into the hole for the drum brakes, am hoping then that they will look ok. To be honest they need repainting and fettling anyway so I'll get them off and do a job on them when ...
