Re: Hand Throttle Lever Slips, Fan eats radiator shroud

Sounds like those brackets might be hard to get hold of, it should be easy enough to make some though, there's a picture of them on page 4 of the mig welding forum link. A couple of bits of flat 2mm plate bent to shape will work until you can track down some proper ones

Re: Use of Red Diesel After 1 April 2022

Couple of great old tractors Dave, perfect for working in the woods, economical too. About time some of these manufacturers were brought to book Shepp. A lad i know said a local dealer came to sort out an electrical problem on his New Holland, the mechanic spent 3 hours sat in the cab with a laptop ...

Re: Use of Red Diesel After 1 April 2022

I see more and more older, smaller tractors being put back to work as they are far more economical, a Ford 4000 will do alot the jobs the big ones are used for, a bit slower and not as luxurious but far cheaper. The dealers yards are full of 3-4 year old tractors that they can't sell, the big farms ...

Re: Use of Red Diesel After 1 April 2022

It's typical of the UK government, promise to make the country carbon neutral by 2050 but with no bloody clue how to do it. Seems the gap between town and country is growing wider, it's fine to block roads and protest about the planet but they still expect the supermarkets to be full of food that ha...

Re: Use of Red Diesel After 1 April 2022

Just shows how out of touch with real life those who make these stupid revenue grabbing decisions are. I work in construction and the price of materials is killing the industry already. Fuel prices are extortionate anyway so now the HMRC and the government want to squeeze more. How much is it going ...

Re: Dexta Hand Brake on Left Side of Seat.

Maybe it is like the Major one, that just hooks over the rod at the bend. Glad you got it sorted, now on to the next bit of the puzzle, if you are anything like me you spend half the day trying to remember where that little bracket you just found came from!

This is listed as a Dexta handbrake repair, it shows a hole in the rod for the spring, maybe the same pic you found

Re: Our 6 cilinder super major

Welcome to the forum, you'll have to post some pics of it along with your progress. I have an old major made up from about 3 others, the engine is getting very tired so i plan on putting a 6 cylinder in one day when i get chance, always fancied having one. It's at the back of the queue at the moment...

Re: Old gear knob

To be honest i was expecting that to happen. Glad it worked though, it's nice to keep as many original bits as possible. I had to wrap it in a rag and use stilsons to remove it, and even managed to sand the marks out of it

Re: Old gear knob

It is, it was on a tractor that hadn't been used in probably 20 years and sat outside. I wasn't sure how degraded the bakelite was but luckily the outer crust sanded off and there are no cracks in it, and as Sandy says, it should get a polished surface with some use
