Belt driven AC pump
Hi all, If you happen to have lots of dud AC pumps and no working one, you can make the pump part work again by removing the motor casing and using the rotor as a pulley. https://i.postimg.cc/zGSBXKnj/DSCF0007.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/vm0Z5y2x/DSCF0010.jpg Then your belt pulley fitted Fordson Major ...

Billy
Hi all, After lots of things going on, here's Billy's report! https://i.postimg.cc/zB71RjMb/2020-H13-20.jpg Billy is a 1955 Fordson Major Diesel, no. 1342983, finished on (I think) 26F5 (hence my user name). Many things have changed since then, but much of him is as he left the factory. The biggest ...

Hi John,
The fuel pipe actually goes the other way round.
16xxxxx does suggest a Super Dexta engine.

Re: Major restoration
Hi Terry, The damping valve adjustment will affect the revs, but you should get even revs at one point. The smoke is unlikely to go without work, but if you let the engine get hot and give it a light load it should clear a tiny bit. I'm afraid your radiator filler isn't right, but there's no expansi...

Re: New Members Super Dexta
Hi Andy,
I've seen them both ways. Davie's ones are green left and red right, but this might not be right. If you remember how they were before the overhaul, I would put them that way as it's very possible that that is the right way.
Hope this makes sense.

Re: Looking for new hydraulic pump for fordson super major
Hi Billy, First observation, have you engaged the PTO? Fordson major hydraulics require the PTO to be engaged https://i.postimg.cc/KjCbJxyH/2020-B29-19.jpg flat lever next to starter lever. You might well find your filter under the hydraulic pump could be blocked from lack of cleaning, drain rear en...

Re: Major restoration
The Ford manual says to do it by trial and error, you'll definitely notice an improvement if you start the right way (it can be either, so if it gets worse, just go the other way). Don't move it too much at a time though, as you might miss the right position.

Re: New but not new
We've actually got three and a half, plus most of the dead engine of the fourth. More on this later, but Super Billy had a no. 1 big end failure and its taken us ages of not doing much at all, but we're hoping to have him going soon. The other one isn't visible in that picture, but it's similar to S...

Re: Major restoration
Hi Terry, Before you start your rebuild, try adjusting your damping valve. https://i.postimg.cc/hvKvCWgY/2019-N10-17.jpg It's the bolt head and lock nut on the front of the governor. This should cure your rough running. Your leaks are probably from the rocker cover or injector rubbers, as long as it...

Hi all, This is my first post although I've been looking at this site for six years or more, and enjoying all the Fordson tractors here (Particularly Fordson Major Diesels). We've got several Fordson tractors https://i.postimg.cc/zDQy1MJ9/2020-H13-3.jpg They are Super Billy, Billy, and Davie. Full r...
