It is quite likely. Loose levers are not great, so see if that's the case and if so tighten it up so it moves solidly. Super Billy managed ok with the loose lever but he doesn't have a live clutch so not directly comparable, he's much better now with it nice and tight.

At minimum track both Billy and Super Billy measure the same (I think 41 1/4" but I looked at that a while ago) between the centres of the tie rod pins (add 2" as required for your wheel track setting). You'll want to use a feeler gauge between the extension and spindle arm. There should be no play in the wheels, so that's what I would check first. The grooves are indeed at 2" in the tie rod ends, but in some cases you have some tolerance to play with in those as well as the tie rod tube, Super Bil...

I don't know why they changed the knob in 54, they must have thought the one piece casting would be cheaper. Anything post Power Major however must have a separate knob as otherwise the lever won't fit through the dash.

The early levers had a large separate knob and were fixed on with a pin. these had a bad habit of getting very loose, so were replaced with the clamp type in around 54, this was the one piece type, which was replaced by a two piece clamp type with the Power Major with a smaller knob. I haven't got any further on this but I can confirm Super Billy is a slow ratio, as he's a lot slower than Billy. The PTO is not however the same as Ford specified. 540 rpm is at 1599 rpm rather than 1473 rpm, meaning that Ebro had other chenges in there (the PTO gear has 33 teeth instead of 32 and ...

Unfortunately it's not as simple as that, E1ADKN-7255 was used till 08C-960337, when it was replaced by E1ADDN-7255, with the previous part no longer available. The new shaft and seal will fit in older castings, but it's not recommended to use the older shaft and seals in the NP box as the new desig...

I would see if you can get a shrouded bearing, they're much better for this job. Probably is worth measuring the flywheel, but it all points to the metric mearing at the moment.

The manual says the position control spring has 10.7 coils and is 1.96" long under 72 lbs and 1.52" under 152 lbs. I think your new spring will still not work but see if it improves anything or not.

Thanks for letting us know that Speedograph don't do them anymore, although the Fordson ones are AC, whereas Spedograph are mainly Smiths.
