Sounds like a good idea, a pic of the shaft would be nice too. I'll check ours as well.

Re: Remote Control Valve Seal Kit for a Dexta.
Sounds like a good idea, remember you'll need a few wee balls to get the plugs out. (see this: viewtopic.php?p=57438#p57438)

Re: Replacement lift arms
All good things, looking at the pics it seems the arms have opposite flats (recess on the arm on the original, on the repro it's on the shaft). If you do get a mill just cut into the flat, but do check everything else first as if the sizes are not all right you'll need an original arm anyway. It loo...

Re: Replacement lift arms
Can you post a pic? I've never heard of them not having the flat, as otherwise getting the correct position is a hard job. What do the arms look like? I think you might have a bigger job here. Give everything a clean, you might be surprised with what you find.

Re: Replacement lift arms
Sounds like the usual aftermarket problem is back. Original arms will work, see what you can find. As for the repro ones it's as Brian says in the land of nearly right, so if you want new ones you'll need to replace more parts, not something I recommend. Once you have the arms fit them without o-rin...

Re: Remote Control Valve Seal Kit for a Dexta.
That kit looks ok but make sure the o-rings are the right size as if not they won't work. I wouldn't bother with the plugs but see what you think.

Re: Sump Removal Procedure
Glad your oil pressure is good, it all sounds good to me. Unfortunately I haven't got pics but see what colours the wires are, that should help. Aftermarket wiring looms are not great, so you'll need to check lots of things. Sounds like you have a short in the oil pressure wire, move the loom about,...

Re: Hyacinth digging potatoes
Good luck with the springs. Here we're also much colder than forecasts say, but still not that cold, we've only had a few frosts so far. Years ago it would have been freezing every night from mid October to early April, with a week or so of -10ºC. I think you're in a colder area than we are, so hope...

Re: Dexta paint blues
Empire blue is not suitable for NP tractors. NP blue is similar but lighter. I was hoping to have some colour matched for Super Billy but then discovered that the place couldn't do that. They did have a similar looking colour which we got then I added white myself to and got a fantastic match. Pics ...

Re: Hydraulics lifting constantly.
I think you actually mean the unloading valve. The control valve is directly connected to the main lever and only directly controls the lowering, neutral and raising is controlled hydraulically by the unloading valve. I'm amazed it stuck with the metal ring, as that was intended to avoid the well kn...

Re: Gear and oil issues
That's a lot of play, it should be solid. Make sure the socket is solid on the shaft as well. Both should be wire locked. Billy has a fair amount of play but we have no issues with changing gear, Super Billy is harder because of the new detent retainers but that's it. That's not to say it's impossib...

Intake valve caps
http://i207.photobucket.com/albums/bb172/Kiwi_Kev/P1030128.jpg Brian looks to be right( he's always right) about the spacer on the bottom of the exhaust spring. Re: NP SUPER CYLINDER HEAD QUESTION
Not wishing to hot up the argument again but as I now have more information we should be able to get better accuracy. I don't know exactly when the FL markings were added but heads were cast at Lemington before that, and Mathias is right that there are some as early as 61 (your July date fits for a ...

Re: Our new 4/62 Super Major
That's very rusty, glad you're getting there, you could test the starter as it is (unloaded only) but probably not worth it, if you wait for the spring you can then test it under load and hopefully avoid taking it apart again. The commutator looks reasonable, if the starter is a bit weak try cleanin...

Re: Next move for our 1954 Fordson Major Diesel
I think you need more oil and diesel, the cold won't help bet shouldn't be a big issue. You could always park something nearby and work it with the exhaust pointing at the spindle (not easy but might be worth it for 10 minutes or so). that might give you a bit of extra movement, don't get the exhaus...

Re: Gear and oil issues
The "folding" is what stops you moving the other one, try moving the upper one without disturbing the lower one, it will take a fair load as you don't have the gear lever to help you when it's off. Wondering if the locking bar is seized (unlikely but not impossible). You can try refitting the select...

Re: Our new 4/62 Super Major
Looks like you've found the issue, they are still available in Britain but not sure in your area. Our weather had been quite good but it's now wet again here too. Probably not going to get any ploughing done till after the new year.

Re: Super Major wheels won't turn
Make sure no dirt gets in and that all parts go back where they came from (watch out for the tee pieces). Probably no bad thing to run it on a calibrating machine even if only to get everything moving nicely. Be careful to ensure you time it correctly, ensure fuel comes out of no 1 delivery valve ho...

Re: Gear and oil issues
You can only move one at a time, there's an interlocking bar to prevent selecting two gears at once. The upper one is more awkward bur seems to be the one that works better from your other comments (it's the one you use when selecting with the lever towards the LH side), I think it's ok. N-7025E is ...

Re: Super Major wheels won't turn
I would have thought so but the comment of it being in gear was what made me doubt (especially when he seemed to say that the belt pulley did turn at the same time although I'm less sure it was actually now), as there's no way you can turn the engine with the brakes seized and in gear unless there's...
