Re: Hi-Lo Lever
The early levers had a large separate knob and were fixed on with a pin. these had a bad habit of getting very loose, so were replaced with the clamp type in around 54, this was the one piece type, which was replaced by a two piece clamp type with the Power Major with a smaller knob. Ebro never used...

Re: Super Major low hydraulic pressure
I suggest tightening up the LH brake for now, here's the brake manual: https://www.fordson.se/6_Framaxel_styrning_bromsar_d%E4ck_Verkstadsmanual_167-190.pdf Know all about brakes misbehaving and it's not fun, the drum brakes are rather better in that sense, as the disk brakes can very easily get int...

Re: Super Major low hydraulic pressure
Glad to see you've got that working and very impressed with your skills on the support bracket. I think it would be nice to have some pics of the brakes so that the very unusual mixture of parts in use is clear. I don't know if you've seen the recent Super Billy news but I'll post pics so you have a...

Re: NP ratio stamping
I haven't got any further on this but I can confirm Super Billy is a slow ratio, as he's a lot slower than Billy. The PTO is not however the same as Ford specified. 540 rpm is at 1599 rpm rather than 1473 rpm, meaning that Ebro had other chenges in there (the PTO gear has 33 teeth instead of 32 and ...

Re: PTO problem? Gearbox noise Super major 1963
Unfortunately it's not as simple as that, E1ADKN-7255 was used till 08C-960337, when it was replaced by E1ADDN-7255, with the previous part no longer available. The new shaft and seal will fit in older castings, but it's not recommended to use the older shaft and seals in the NP box as the new desig...

This points to the metric bearing even more. Try it and see how it feels.

Re: Fordson and Dexta clutch pilot bearing causing shaft damage
I would see if you can get a shrouded bearing, they're much better for this job. Probably is worth measuring the flywheel, but it all points to the metric mearing at the moment.

Good work, looks like you were unlucky, Super Billy's bush from Agriline was good. Your spindle bushes are better than what we got, better to have too many grooves than none. The new seals are always big and need lots of early attention. Good to see you got that screen, I can't think how many will s...

The manual says the position control spring has 10.7 coils and is 1.96" long under 72 lbs and 1.52" under 152 lbs. I think your new spring will still not work but see if it improves anything or not.

Re: Fordson and Dexta clutch pilot bearing causing shaft damage
I've had a look around and the closest I can find is a 1/2" thick bearing. I'm still a bit unsure about this, I wouldn't expect a 1950's part list to have the sort of mistakes we get now, but the only way to be sure is to measure several flywheels, input shafts and original pilot bearings to see wha...

Re: PTO problem? Gearbox noise Super major 1963
Sounds like Mathias is right, you'll need to drain both the gearbox and rear axle for this, also be careful as everything is heavy. New seals are available, the bearings are part nos. BB-7025 and BB-7065, they should have a number stamped on them telling you what kind they actually are. The o-ring m...

Re: Fordson and Dexta clutch pilot bearing causing shaft damage
See how it fits, if it feels very tight swap it for a higher clearance bearing, you've got a sealed bearing, which is an unusual choice for a pilot bearing, they're normally of the shrouded type. Good bearings are always worth using.

Re: Fordson and Dexta clutch pilot bearing causing shaft damage
The Z is not a clearance, it means the bearing has a metal shroud covering the balls. I have often also seen CN being between C2 and C3, but that might not be a real clearance. There is a chance that the metric confusion could have occurred, but the 1950's SKF list for Fordson tractors would likely ...

Re: Fordson and Dexta clutch pilot bearing causing shaft damage
It shouldn't be too tight a fit, as the input shaft has to slide in and out when the engine is fitted or removed. According to what Mike says you want the bearing to be a bit free, as opposed to having a preload. I had always understood C4 to have a slight preload while C2 has a bit of play (as an e...

Now seen the whole thing, I'm not keen on some of the things they do, but they did fix it. Didn't see them opening the unloading valve plug (a common problem).

Re: Major Brake Drum Cover
The window on the cover is a relic from the E27N days (the part no is E27N-2774B), when the back plate was 90 degrees forwards from the position on the Major (E1ADKN-2213 & E1ADKN-2214 replaced E27N-2213B & E27N-2214B). The access to the expander is through a slot in the backplate behind the bull pi...

The repair manual was linked to on the old forum ( https://www.fordsontractorpages.nl/ubb/Forum4/HTML/001080.html ). Not sure everything is there but it's quite enough for most things. Service letters are rare, I'm also on the lookout for them as they cover lots of things that were missed in the man...
